It all depends. HID's in the long run should outlive any halogen type bulb short of being destructed by an accident.
The question is: Will GM spend the extra money up front (about $200 max their cost) and reap the benefits of long life and higher intensity lumens? OR Will GM simply pass the cost to consumer as an option? OR Will GM just leave those cheap halogens in with their new EURO style headlights (similar to those available for the C5 after market). My hope is its 1 or 2.

If I recall correctly from Dave Hill's seminar at last April's C5 Registry event, he said the C6 will have improved lighting front & rear. But I don't recall him talking about HID per se. Could be, the C6 will have a new lighting system superior to HID.
We'll know in 86 days!
