i love the car, but am beginning to loathe the community. i have had several bad experiences so far while dealing with people in the z06 community. i hope there is a brighter side.....
sorry for the rant, but i need to vent somewhere.
It's a new era with on line communication.
It tends to bring out bad peoples dark side and they feel they have to crap on others,, and it can bring out good peoples good side.
I guess hiding behind a computer screen people may say things they wouldn't normally say to one's face in person.
Forums with the meanest members do far more hits than the nicer forums.
So on it goes.
Lots of coke and meth heads in these forums and it just brings out the best in them doesn't it? They'll never have anything nice to say to anyone.
The most tallented motorsports people and legends I know stay completely away from motorsports forums.
There are good folks and bad on every car site. I've met some great Vette people over the years, and also some real saddo losers. Don't take it so personal. Enjoy your car, and ignore the idiots. What do you care

Gotta tell you, don't go to many Vette shows myself. It's not the attitude so much as it is the boredom. I feel like someone should start up a poker game or a touch football game just to have something to do. But that's just me......
I know what you mean. I once went to a car show and when I saw the judge using a white glove to check the firewall for grime, I left. Also, you see one Enzo, you've seen them all Looking at cars is about as exciting as watching golf for me.
On another note, my car came equipped from the factory with windshield wipers

"I only street race in school zones, at 3PM, on Mondays"
Quick final thought: I hang with people who are like-minded. Work too hard to waste my time with people who I just don't get along with. We often joke that our group of people is basically a dating service, but without the dating Basically we're all married working guys who just realized that free time is something that is worth every second, and we rather not waste it with drama and people who don't have the same mindset.
I like to drive, don't care if it's with one corvette or none. Nothing against car show guys, track guys, or "only hang out with guys who own the same car as me" guys -- just not my bag. The car scene first and foremost is a social network, and as such you have to like the people you're with (and vice versa). If that's not there, then why waste your time? I've had some great times and some even better stories from our little escapades, and not all of them are even car-related. To me this is what the car scene is all about.
PS -- you don't have to go BG (although I'm sure it's great) to find some good stuff. I'll be at LimeRock Park tomorrow to watch the races. Driving up with a few friends. If you want to go PM me.

I thought this thread was a waste of bandwidth when it first opened and was surprised to see it take on a life. However, I have read some very reasonable, mature and grounded responses. These seem to me to be attempts to educate the OP; but in reality have reinforced to those that get it, the role of our cars in our lives.
As I read someplace, "If you have to explain it they won't get it; if they get it, no explanation is needed."

I assume you mean the stereotype that we are all rich, ruggedly handsome and debonair and are all hung like horses. Is that the one?
Like Alice in Wonderland, this conversation is getting "curiouser and curiouser"
Mike
And I thought it was more that the Vette was an Exotic Car for the Double Wide Trailer crowd!!!!!
If the OP is complaining about not getting a "WAVE". So sorry....that was me!
Maybe he is complaining about way too many MOD DAYS where other members and vendors extend themselves just for the friendship???
Maybe his car is still "Stock".....(the poor child)!!!
Maybe he doesnt fit into the BALD, Big Belly, Middle Age group. You know, those of us who bought the car to Overcompensate for our other short comings!!!!!!

You're just jealous because you don't meat the height requirement...lying down
I still want to do an echo golf oscar run, I was even thinking sunday night. I know Joey wanted in, interested?
i feel the stereotype is pretty spot on. maybe i am just used to a different crowd but it seems like if you have an opinion that differs from the norm you get shunned. and i'll tell you what for an older crown people act much more childish then do the younger people today.
Wow, I'm sixty, retired and have a beard, pony tail, wear jeans, tee shirts and Piloti shoes.
Back in Feb. I traded in my '04 Z06 for a new one. I love to polish and admire the '08. Damn, if it ain't a work of art, I don't know what is. I hate driving it in the rain. Wait, I don't think I ever did!
I get bored at car shows but go anyway.
I don't race or autocross anymore. I've never had the new one over 100.
I too had a BMW or two. I did autocross the Z3. I went to the Z3 reunion at the factory in Spartanburg a few times and found the people there the same as the Corvette crowd.
So much for the stereotype. $10 will get you 20 that no one here cares. I bet there will be no negitive comments. Well perhaps some kidding around. I can't help but think you may have been trolling.
