Well I pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago. I had a Millenium Yellow 2003 Z06 with mod red interior and just loved it, but I started getting used to the power so I Knew it was time for the upgrade.
Shopped around the net for a good price, banged my head against the wall quite a bit had a deal with Kerbeck, I thought, then the extras started to get added on. Got a great price at Maxie Price, in Georgia. I told Kevil chevy the deal to see if they would match and save me a trip to Georgia. They said "it is worth it for me to stop in, but they can't talk price over the phone". I went to Kevil and the guy I was on the phone with and whom I told I was on my way over to see, was out picking up a car. Got the old (very old) dealer shuffle, and thier best deal was 5K over Sticker. I told them I was pissed for wasting my time and wired the money to Maxie Price. The deal with them was 2k over invoice or 5K under sticker.
The car is Velocity Yellow with the usual 2lz, nav, chrome wheels, etc set up, that seems to be the standard package. I flew out of Newark to go to Atlanta. I picked up the car drove to my brothers' place in Charlott NC, then drove home to NJ the next day. It was an awsome trip. The first 500 miles was tough since I wanted to break her in nicely. Then I gradualy started letting her go. What a beast!!!
I never thought that my old Z06 could be improved upon. Boy was I wrong.
In case some of you think that you heard of my handle before, I used to be on the other corvette site a lot. I don't go there anymore since it was sold and completely changed for the worse. I will be here now and would love to help anybody out if i can.
I am the owner of a machine shop in NJ, and besides my Z06s I also have a 66 Big Block vert.
I hope to corespond with many of you and make more friends.
Georgia is great too....LOL!! Bought a few Fords from Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland Ga. Good people down there.
Called Harry at Kerbeck to see whats what(cause they treated me great down there 3 months ago)....they are selling new Z06 vettes for 5500 under and thats before you even walk through the door.
But I do understand how things go with dealers some times.

Reason: what the heck
Hey, Machine, congratulations on the "upgrade" and welcome to our Forum. I too went from a C5Z to the C6Z and know what you mean. By the way, you're just up Rt. 31 from me...I'm in Pittstown. We're lucky, we have a good dealer in the area for parts & service. If you want references, send an e-mail...and look for me in the Machine Silver with Comp Gray wheels. What color & wheels did you get?

Best of luck w/ the Z. I just made the same leap from the 03 to the 08. 2500 mls and I'm now forgetting about the 03 which I loved. I bought my 03 at Kerbeck and I called my same salesman for the 08. After getting jerked around and told it doesn't matter being a return customer everybody is, I found a great deal locally, 5000 under sticker and pulled the trigger. I'm from Staten Island, NY and would have loved a reason to visit the area again but Kerbeck will never hear from me again!! You'll never look back the C6Z gets intoxicating!!!
Congrats on the upgrade....sounds like you got yourself one hell of a deal on one hell of a car. Did you trade in your 03 or are you selling it?
I have the 2003 up for sale, but I have been thinking of keeping it. I love that car too!! I am trying to justify a good reason to keep it, but with the new Z and the few miles I put on the old one It's tough to find a reason to keep it. The 2003 only has 14K miles on it, but I am thinking that if I keep it I will probably never choose to drive it over the 2008. I guess for now I will set a high price which will most likely keep it mine through the winter, and hopefully I will make up my mind by spring.
