Just saw on tv..new GM lowered MSRP

Just saw on tv an ad about GM lowering all their cars and trucks MSRP. Included in the ad was a picture of an 06Z06. The ad said to go to edmunds.com for all the info.

Went into edmunds, clicked on the "find out more" button next to "America's #1 Value. Every car, every truck, every suv now with lower sticker price". Once in I priced my 06Z06 based on my sticker (what I paid) and compared it to building the same car under the edmunds.com "lower sticker price". Bottom line, the 2LZ package and the polished alum wheels I got are the same price, but the BASE sticker price of the supposedly lower MSRP was actually $690 HIGHER.

After building my car on edmunds.com, the bottom line with all options, shipping and everything else, the REDUCED MSRP was $690 higher than I paid, i.e. my MSRP.

What's up with this--did they actually increase the Z06 by $690? Anybody else do this?

There was an add in the sports section of the San Diego Union Tribune showing a Z06 and saying chevy was reducing MSRP on all cars, trucks, and Suvs. It will be interesting to see if the MSRP really goes down on the Z06. They expect on average about $2K reduction in price. This won't stop the car dealers from jacking up the price on the Z over MSRP.

I've been out shopping for new cars for my wife. She likes the Pontiac Torrent They took an additional 950$ off the negotiated price cause of that lower MSRP thing. This was last night.

I saw a yellow Z06 at a dealer this morning with an additional sticker on it saying the price was reduced to $70,940. The MSRP on the main window sticker was $71,050.

Z06's only lowered $100.00 but most dealers are tacking on a 5k to 14k premium.
