Lemon Law & Fuel System ?

I have owned my z06 for about eight months now. It has been to the dealership service department seven times now. Issues have included 1) Car would not start. Replaced battery 2) One window would not properly close all the way. 3) Multiple (2) times for leaking brake fluid out of the master cylinder. Fixed now. 4) Three times now for problems with shifter chatter (replaced shifter) and problems with putting car in 1st, 2nd and reverse (shifter realigned). 5) Fuel gage went to empty on the freeway and service fuel system on the dic went on as well as check engine light on the dash.

Just picked it up from the dealer and put a full tank of gas in the car. Fuel gauge is now showing half a tank only

My first question to everyone is has anyone had the same problem with the fuel gauge and how did they fix this probelem? The service advisor at the dealer said they replaced a fuel system sensor located behind the gas tank.

My second question is had anyone "Lemon Lawed" their car with the help of an attorney. I have contacted an attorney and he said he thinks most likely have a case if one of my issues has accured three time which is the case with my shifter.

I am extremely frustrated, saddened and disapointed with this car. This is my third corvette over the past ten years and have never had issues like this. GM has not even contacted me to offer help, etc. It seems a shame that they would not follow up with problems like this with a repeat customer and with the top of the line Corvette. I am so pissed. I think I am going to have a beer now.

My brother in law has lemon lawed 2 vettes back to back. 3 times for same issue in twelve mnths. They set up arbtration and then he won and they took the car. Lawyer couldn't hurt but isn't needed. My brother in law is pretty savy though and technical.

Not loving in the US, I can only sympathize. Here the car would not have left thedealership, especially as most of what you are experiencing sounds like shoddy service shop work.

I was warned that the battery could run down if the key fob was stored too close the car. I have a window valet installed and there is a window rest manipulation. The shifter can be an issue, but most chatter comes from the trans, and there is a ticket out on that. The shifter alignment is down to the retro fitter, ie the workshop. Why the heck do you need to fill your car up when you leave the dealership? Sounds like somebody messed up on the programing:-

Logic here would have the dealership in court. Nothing is fundametally wrong with your car ex cracked block. A good dealersip should have your issues corrected in no time.

I've lemon lawed 5 cars so far:

2 X 2000 Camaro SS
1 X 2001 Mustang Cobra
1 X 2002 Z06 Corvette
1 X 2003 Z06 Corvette

Never once used an attorney. It's not difficult to do, but you've got to keep records of everything. You can ask the dealer to give you a complete service history report on the car as well to help put together all of those work orders you get back and fill in some of the blanks. Make sure you keep a chronological timeline of events. It's much easier to lay out the entire picture for the arbitrator like this.

California is a very pro-consumer state, so the Lemon Laws for CA go above and beyond the Standard Magnusson Moss Warranty Act which sets the baseline Federal standard for Lemon laws if you will.

In CA if during the first 18 mos or 18,000 miles you have:

4 or more repair attempts for the same issue, if the issue is not considered life threatening.
3 or more repair attempts if the issue is or could be construed to be life threatening
or...
30 or more days in the shop for all repairs (out of your possession for repairs only, not routine maintenance)

the vehicle may be a lemon, and you should consider looking further into pursuing this. I wouldn't pay an attorney for something that is open and shut, especially since, if they say you have a case, it's because they are pretty sure they can win and take 33% of what you would get back from GM. If they can win, so can you, but be prepared to go to arbitration and for plenty of headaches along the way. I've gone to arbitration 2 of the 5 times, the other 3 times, I just presented the case to the BBB and we reached a settlement without having to go to arbitration.

I'm a big proponent of getting what I pay for, and one of the things I don't expect is to have a car like this constantly being repaired or in the shop while I'm carrying the note. In the 3 years I owned my Infiniti G35 coupe, it went into the shop for a total of 3 times and 2 of those was to replace a cracked center armrest because I lean on it when getting in the car. That's about it.

My 03 Z had problems with a leaking diff. After the 3rd attempt to correct the problem I had a meeting with the general manager and the service manager. I told them that I was pretty confident that we were in lemon law territory and this had better get fixed or they were going to give me a new car. Oddly enough they fixed the differential the 4th time and it never leaked again. It is amazing what a little hip check can do.

We lemoned law'd 2 Mustangs and one Honda Civic in the family and the Atty didnt charge anything.
Perhaps that's changed, but our family didn't have to pay a dime.

The better business Bureau is your friend. They were responsive to me and GM seemed to lay down for them. I lemmoned mine for over 30 days in the shop.
