Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

As a proud owner one of the 383 packages produced by Lingenflelter for a C5 I thought the quality and workmanship was second to none.
Has anybody purchased a new 08 Z06 with the 640 hp packages from LPE??
I was wondering if the quality and workmanship is still there, and are there
any other good tuners that have a good 427 package. MTI? Katech??

thanks

If you don't mind me asking. What is your car putting down to the wheels. Curious small mind wants to know.

Re: Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

When I hear about Lingenfelter now, I cringe. My buddy(and forum member) bought a Lingenfelter motor last year and it has truly been a disaster. It turns out that some important parts were not machined properly and caused terrible imbalances in the motor. As far as I know Lingenfelter is still saying that because it is a race motor, tough luck.

I have the Lingenfelter package. It's putting about 545 at the wheels.

Re: Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

thanks boss zr-1
how is the fit and finish and is there anything else, like a different clutch
that they should install while the motor is out?
did you get the 613 hp package or the 630hp package? Is there a lot
of wheel spin? would a 3:73 or a 3:90 gear make it better??

thanks

I think its always a good idea to upgrade the clutch when you reach the 500-600 HP range.

Re: Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

dpk,

Sorry for not getting back sooner. Yes, 630 HP package. I only had 950 miles on the car when I sent it to LPE but had them change out the clutch anyway. I went with an Exedy single disc and love it. There is a lot of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd with this package......I don't recommend 3.73 or higher....just my opinion. If you drag it I recommned a drag radial and upgraded rear half axles (C-5) to handle the torque. I also went with the Corsa two tip exhaust. It idles at 950 rpm with a nice lope.

Enjoy

Thanks boss ZR-1
looks like I can dial up a pretty good combination with the 630 hp package
and good a clutch. What do you think it will run in the 1/4 mile?

thanks again,

Re: Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

dpk,

I truly think its capable of mid to high 10's in the 1/4. I've had it out twice this year and my best time on stock runflats is 11.5 @ 132 mph. next year I'm getting some DR's and changing the half axles to handle the torque.

Re: Lingenfelter 640 hp Z06

I'm sorry but I have to say it...

The 640HP package looks like a lot of hype for not that much...

With a CAI, port/polish, cam, headers and a tune, I think any car can make RWHP in the low 600s for thousands less.

What makes LPE special?
