Well it's in my garage. I just checked again for the sixth time in 3 hrs.!! As some may remember I asked about the difference btwn the 07 and 08 as I poked around a couple of dealers. I really didn't think it would come together as most of the dealers in south Florida are still smoking crack w/ this 5-10,000 over sticker!!! So they all demanded msrp. I'm happy to report that after a long battle and me walking out the door, that is what it took, I got 5000 off sticker and traded my 03 bk beauty for the o8 2lz w/ chrome wheels. Whata different car from the 03 Z. The reason i was able to say sorry no deal and leave is I really loved my 03. Actually I miss it. I had'nt driven it in 2 mnths due to work and while driving it in for appraisal i said to myself I don't care what happens cause it's a great ride. But now the beast resides in the garage and I hope this one can feel like an extension of myself like the 03 did. I only have 74 mls on it. I can feel that it 's faster but I won't beat on it yet. I don't know if it's as easy to handle as the 03. Stops better. Nicer inside, I love details. Paint fit and finish seem much better. With my short term evaluation I will say that it's too quiet as far as exhaust note. I loved the 03 growl!! They told me to break it in for 1000 mls to break in the rear. They said alot of guys tear it up too soon and the rears have problems due to improper break in . Any one else hear this? I didn't see anything in the manual. Any dos dont's or advice on the c6z would be greatly appreciated.

FEAR THE MIATA
Thanks guys. I waited on the 03 for the price break but they are still holding tight till now and it was'nt easy. Actually i forgot to mention one of my tactics in negotiating was the www.jeffhardy.com corvette locator. I punched it up in his office and showed him tons of 08 z's in fla alone. Then I asked do you think any of them will make the deal? It was a slow sale day and the timing was right so I acted. I feel lucky but am I? Now I have a car payment again!!!! Don't tell my wife. I told her it was pretty much a trade they loved my car. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
congrats. I'm trying to negotiate on one also. It's an 07 and they are offering 5k off sticker...I'm looking for more. Of course, this is the same dealer that said that they won't move on the sticker since it's a Z06. That was a month ago. So we'll see.
You're going to love it. You'll be all the time, guaranteed. It is different, indeed, and better in virtually every way. They feel different, perhaps not as raw, but more refined and refinement is a good thing.
As to the break-in period, it is in fact in the manual. It's a catchall whereby it says no hard acceleration and no speeds over 55 mph for the first 500 miles and then "gradually increase performance until 1,000 miles." In addition, make no hard stops for the first 200 miles.
The former is to allow the differential parts to bed-in as well as other moving parts of the drive train. Contrary to popular belief, things like the clutch, transmission, and even some suspension components need to wear in as well. The recommended break-in period is not simply for the engine alone. Although 55 mph may be conservative, still take it easy for the first 1,000 miles. The 200 miles with no hard stops is to bed-in the brake pads. It takes time to deposit an even layer of pad material on the new rotors. This will help prevent noisy brakes as well as prevent an uneven pad deposit layer, which can cause the brakes to shudder.
I know, it's damn hard, but try to restrain yourself. Although nothing may blow-up or break, wearing parts in somewhat slowly helps prevent noises and other potentially annoying issues in the future. Besides, you'll have plenty of time to ride 'er hard and put 'er away wet.
Your in the drivers seat Paul. Show them the jeffhardy.com site w/ all the 08's out there. Play hard, but be so nice it kills them, make them want to do it. I showed no passion for the car at the dealership. I kept saying it's all about the # nothing else and that I did'nt care. I went in the bathroom to drool!! Good luck. Thanks Nodoubt. It is hard to be cool. She pulls so strong 1st thru 4th and then I look down and I'm going 80 mph. I'm not winding her out or putting much of a load on her. I agree your advice about the clutch, brakes and rear. I remember way back alot of guys w/ whining from the rear w/ the c5Z. I love the refinement and improvments but at this stage I miss that raw toughness of the c5Z. I guess when I can start playing w/ the c6Z I 'll forget it!! It is a whole new animal. Thanks again oh is it me or is this navigation a pain in the ass.
Congratulations! Sounds like you made out better than expected. Any pics? Take it easy, for the time being.....

Thanks GR8 wht. I still can't believe it. I didn't think I could break them. The market is getting better. How are you making out w/ your motor dilema? Pics to come as soon as figure how.

oh is it me or is this navigation a pain in the ass.
It isn't you. The nav system is not very 'intuitive' and the map database is sorely lacking, at least around here.
It could be worse though. My wife's Lexus, although it has a larger and much better display, is even less intuitive and the database is worse yet. The nav in my Land Cruiser is much better in all the ways the Lexus is not, but retains all the good things.
One of the best nav systems I've seen (and I've used a lot of them) was in my wife's 2002 Acura TL Type S. You could program anything while in motion; it was very intuitive and had a much better database. However, it did lack Bluetooth and had a slightly smaller display.
Another system I don't care for is that used by BMW. It's overly complex and not very ergonomic.
