More C6 info

For the first time since 1962 (the next year brought the original Sting Ray) the Corvette will feature fixed headlamps rather than pop-ups. The exterior, however, features the evolutionary, don't-screw-it-up restyling that Corvette fanatics tend to demand. A convertible model follows the coupe into showrooms by fall, while 2005 brings a new, 500-horsepower Z06 version.

Yes, and by then the Vette will be behind once again in the HP wars. I said it before and I'll say it again. All the HP in the world can not make me buy an ugly car. The new C6 Sucks ! The interior alone is a turn-off

Give it time. You might just change you mind when you see it in person (especially the new Z06). Don't pass judgment just yet.

Yes, right now I am not a big fan of what I am seeing of the new C6, but I do need to see it in person to really form my opinion.

You have to completely reserve your judgement on the C6 Z06 since it will be a very different body style from the the Coupe and the Vert. As Richard Shearer said at last year's Fest about the C6 Z06, "even your grandmother will be able to tell its a Z06..."

Let the hype begin...

Small world I was in High School with Richard Shearer's mother.
He's from Kenilworth, NJ.
He designed the C5 Z06 rear brake ducts.

I am with you. I thought the C4s weren't very attractive, but boy, was I wrong or what? The C4 look like Ferraris compared to the Avipvette.

Give me the performance, ie. 500 HP, lower weight and higher G's than the C5 Z06, the looks become secondary....

If looks were more important, I would've kept my Carbon Black E46 M3.

Let's face it. Performance is why we by our Z's.
If they also appeal to us visually, is just a bonus.

I want performance, but a nice aesthetic appearance comes wrapped in the package. For the money I'd lose on a trade-in, I could just beef up my current Z06...have the performance, have better looks...and be even more satisfied...and right now, until I can pass judgement in person on the new C6, that looks like how it's going to be. I've got at least 3 more years in my 03, because I won't buy until 07 anyways...but if I had to buy right now, I don't think I'd be climbing into a C6.

Ain't gonna cut it for me. If all I wanted was fast in a straight line and I didn't care about ugly I wouldn't waste over 50k on a C6, and if I want to carve corners I got a lot of choices these days.

I am not impressed with the new C6 so far, and the new "improved" interior just looks like the same crap interior with some metal in it - and who in their right mind could think that steering wheel is an improvement!?!!

Yech!

That's why I am going with an Elise this summer (might also keep my Z06). I'd love to replace the Z06 with a '67 or '69 Vette, now those were awesome!

Yeah, who is GM fooling on that interior? I guess quite a few of you guys. Personally, I don't even find the C5 interior that bad, but the C6 interior doesn't appear to be leaps and bounds ahead of it. You can throw out any sort of global satellite positioning lcd screen in mine, because I wouldn't want that crap anyways. The steering wheel is crazy imo, and I can't make up my mind on it. Other than that, doesn't look like it's a whole lot different.

I'm reserving final judgement for seeing it in person, but pics aren't cutting it. Ha, and the guy that wants the Elise must know what he's talking about, because that car is going to be badass. Nothing like a go-kart with all the regulations for street use. But, I couldn't purchase one without holding onto the Z06.

That bright OLED display will only be bright for a couple of years before owners start asking GM for a new one. OLEDS are a nice but they will degrade especially in a car's environment. Moisture will kill them over time.
