I went to my local dealer last night and they had 3 C6's being inspected, including a black one wiht Z-51 and XM and DVD Navi.
Long story short after about 2 hours of negotiation I walked they wanted 5k over sticker and I cant see paying it. I called them back this mornign and they said that they will not come a dollar off the 5k over sticker.
I gotta say I love the interior of the car, it makes ours look like a hond civic. the push button start is kinda cool but what reall makes the car is how quiet it is when stareted. If they will sell it to me at sticker I will buy it. but not a dollar over.
Saw one at the local dealer here today. No way would I give up the z for it. Back window goes almost to the end of the car. Don't like the plastic piece attached to the rear(with the big reverse lights). The round mufflers preceding the tailpipes look like rice. Rims look cheap. paint and fitment issues seemed improved. Car seems to sit higher than the z. All in all did not make me want to jump in one
I'm not jumping on the anti-c6 bandwagon just because i have a z16, but after seeing the C6, I don't know, to me, it just doesn't look like Corvette.... it will grow on me I'm sure, but right now, I'm not overly excited about it.
I imagine that will be common practice for awhile.
Most likely this will happen with the new Z06 (or whatever they end up calling it) also. If you can't wait - you will get

Just sit tight and relax. The market will settle out. With the "evolutionary" approach, everyone knows it is really a C-5.5. Let's see how the early recalls go.
Dont pay over sticker for a car. That just makes a bad investment even worse! In a few months they will be marking them down hundreds, and a few years serveral thousand. Wait it out!
HAHAHAHAHA well guys, I just came back from the dealer Polar Bear saw them at... Turns out they changed their mind about the mark up. They thought it wasn't enough, so they put it to $10k-$20k (depending on color).
The lady there goes on to say that precision red is ALREADY a collectible color, so obviously it explains the $20k markup (NOT!).
All this crap aside, I happened to think precision red was very beautiful, it's darker and deeper than torch red. I of course didn't see victory red yet, but I definitely could have lived with precision red.
Anyway, I thought the C6's looked nice (all 4 of them).
It's only natural for dealerships to do this. I even remember when the Nissan 350Z came out. There were two dealerships in Kansas City that were marking this car up horribly and wouldn't budge a penny on the car for about four to five months. Now you can drive by any used car lot and have your pick of a baker's dozen.
Same thing will happen with the C6. Heck, it's a new car right now with high degrees of novelty. But within two to three years you will be able to drive by any used car lot and the witty sales people will be pulling you out of your car and begging you to buy it. Just like the C5 Coupe:-)
