Wow, all I can say is what a trip. Lets go for a full story, and start the day off.
9am, check online to make sure all of my money is in order and see it is, call my bank and ask if the money is ready, and the loan papers ready to sign so I can get up to see and retrieve my beauty.
10am, get all of the paperwork signed and out the fax machine and thinking I’ll get to leave at 12 to go start the LONG, SLOW drive to go get her.
Well after that that was the last thing that went smooth for the rest of the day. Around 12 o’clock I still haven’t heard anything from either party, so I call my bank and she says that they have all of the information and just waiting on the title work. In Oklahoma you can’t wire or sent money until they have the title or some appropriate paperwork. It’s a screwy state, but oh well, nothing I can do about it. I call the sales manager and he about flips saying there is no way he is going to send a title without having the money. I give him the direct line so he can work it out, I’m sick of dealing with being the middle man. So I decide to go ahead and leave work and run an errand or two so I can get my daily commuter car back in operation. Long story short on that one is never believe map quest unless you are sure it’s right. Went to the wrong town for the address, since it was messed up. End up finding out where the place is, go there and it’s the wrong part. So while waiting for them to pull the right part my banker calls and says that they will not take the “Draft” as payment and we have to wire the money, but it costs extra, “Who cares, I want the car, just do it” Well by this time it’s like 2pm , and you can’t wire after 230, so I’m beginning to wonder if I’m getting the car or not. I call the salesperson and he just faxed all of the paperwork to my bank so they can wire him the money to his bank. Well still waiting for my part I’m beginning to wonder, “Am I ever going to get this car?” So get the part I need, and head home. Still can’t leave to drive the 4+ hours unless I know for sure it’s there.
It’s not 250, I call my bank and she says she wired the money at 215, but because it has to go to the fed, she doesn’t know when it will make it. I call the car dealer back and he says he hasn’t heard anything yet, but will get right back with me. Start driving home and it’s now getting to be around 330, and still nothing, so I call him back and he again puts me on hold, says I was just getting ready to call the bank. Well 5-10 minutes later he gets back on the phone and says, “Yup we have the money, now how do you want to get this, since it’s your car, do you want to be here to watch them detail it, or do you want to let us do it, and then gas it up for you?” Well since I do not really want anyone to drive my car, I decide to just tell them to detail it, since they do it at there garage, and I’ll come up and drive it to get gas. He is cool with that.
So I get in the car and head that way with my friend who is going to follow me back. It’s a little before 430, my dogs are so mad at me for leaving again and putting them up, I’m so worried my house is going to be a mess, we all know how pets are. So start driving and the miles and time are just dragging by. I can’t believe how slow it’s going. Little outside of Emporia, KS I look to my North and notice some BIG BLACK clouds. I’m thinking to myself, the one day it’s going to rain in 2 months, and it’s going to rain after I get my new car. Just my luck! So continue on driving and it rains, of course for about 5-10 minutes. So finally after what seems like an eternity, we get there.
Walk in to the show room and meet John, Brian, Dan, and Adam and everyone else. Everyone is just great! Very nice and very helpful. My car is in the back and they ask if I want to drive it inside for some pics(Yes I brought my nice digital with me, DUH) So I get to drive it into the show room floor, oh wow, let me tell you I almost died when I pushed the button in the garage and heard it purr to life!!

So driving it around the corner and I hear some guy (turns out to be the owner of the whole car dealership) yelling at the sales man(Brian), “Who is driving that z?” Brian replies in a quite voice, “The buyer.” Again the guy yells “WHO IS DRIVING THAT BRAND NEW Z?” Brian replies, “THE OWNER SIR!” The guy then replies, “Oh ok”
SO get the car in the showroom and start taking some pics (See the end) and wouldn’t you know, MOTHER NATURE HATES ME!! It starts just pouring, and I mean POURING. I’m thinking to myself, man this car is so beautiful, why me, why me? So we decide to go ahead and fill out all the paperwork and stuff and see if it’s going to stop raining. While filling out the paperwork Brian tells me that the reason the vette has 25 miles on it is the Owner of the dealership was going to buy it, drove it home and compared it to some Mercedes or some other 250,000 dollar car and decides it’s just too much power and his wife won’t allow him to get it. So at least it appears someone that knew what they were doing drove it. Well get done filling out the paperwork, decide to go ahead and sit in the car and Brian shows me all of the options. While scrolling through there I notice the average speed for 25 miles is 11.2 miles an hour, so I guess it hasn’t been abused too hard. Get done with this and it’s still raining.
I just decide, well I’m going to have to wash it, so lets just go fill it up and get on the road. I get in the car to back it up and the Owner asks me to let Brian back it down the ramp since it’s a tight squeeze in-between the mirrors and the glass doors. Go fill it up, and Brian rides with me in just silence. He just is amazed at how nice the car is, and as am I.
Fill it up, get back and get my stuff and my friend and I decide we have to eat, haven’t eaten all day. Ask for directions to a place that’s still open (it’s 10pm now). Head to Old Chicago, eat some food, really wish I could drink one of there countless beers on tap, but can’t, and get back in the car. It’s now 11, it’s stopped raining and I think man maybe I will get home sometime tonight

Get in the car and head down the highway. Wow, this car is just awesome. I can feel the power, just wanting to be unleashed, but I just can’t, gotta break her in right. Keep driving, shifting gears, keeping it under 2200 rpms, and just keep on driving. Man o man, the only thing I don’t like about it is the dang long shift throws. Just seems like it’s a long reach to all the gears.
The car is SO RESPONSIVE, it’s unreal. I really don’t think it has much road noise for as much rubber is on the road, and compared to the mustang we drove up in, it rides a heck of a lot smoother! Really like the HUD and the ability to see around and in the car. Love how the headlights light up the night, and it’s just great!
Well this time the sky is just lighting up with lightening. I’m thinking, man I hope no hail, how would that suck!! Keep on driving and it starts to rain, imagine that. Slow her way down since I don’t want to have any problems, and I hear how the tires are not that great from people. She handles great. Couple times I had to slow to 30 mph or less since it was raining so hard, but there was just no place to pull over. Hydroplaned once and it handled just fine. Controlled the very small skid and it was fine.
So now we are driving in pouring rain, I’m doing 15 miles an hour and I’m in a construction zone. I have a concrete barrier to the left, and I’m on a bridge and it’s a concrete barrier to the right. No place to pull over and it’s just POURING. I can barely see the road. All of a sudden out of no where I hit a HUGE puddle of standing water. The car completely loses traction. I’m thinking to myself, I AM NOT WRECKING THIS CAR ON IT’S MADIAN VOYAGE, I AM NOT PULLING A TITANTIC. I relax in a split second, remember my driving basics and steer to control the skid. My heart is now pumping about 220 BPM and I’m still skidding, trying to keep it in control and regain traction. For what seems like an hour, but I’m sure it was like 2 seconds I fight with the car, she is so responsive, she handles exactly how I ask her to, and is very forgiving, yet still completely in control. I finally regain traction, now I’m doing about 10 mph and continue forward. My friend calls me who is following me and is flipping out. They can’t believe that I didn’t wreck it, asked if I was ok, and just don’t know how I kept it in between the lines.
So I still keep it way under the speed limit, and keep on driving. About 15 miles south of Wichita the roads dry up and it looks like I’ll be able to actually drive and not have any worries. Continue on into OK and a patrol car is in the on ramp, so I move over and let him in, and keep on going. I’m coming out of 60 zone, and I look down and I’m doing 62, so I ease off the gas and slow her down. My V1 hasn’t gone off, so I’m not too worried. The officer slips in behind me and we continue down the road. All of a sudden, my V1 goes crazy pointing behind me!! I’m thinking, “Come on now, I’m not doing anything wrong, I just want to get home (it’s 3am now) The V1 shuts off and I keep on driving. All of a sudden it goes crazy again, this time pointing forward, then again pointing back. There are four cops three going the other way, and then the one behind me. I think something is up, and just can’t believe it. Well about 10 miles down the road he finally leaves me alone, and I can rest easy again.
About 4 miles from my exit, 40 miles from my home I think nothing can go wrong, right? Yeah right! I see three triangles, you know the emergency type, and an 18 wheeler with it’s flashers on. I move over to the far lane, and this guy, I guess the driver steps into the near lane just flagging me like crazy. I’m thinking to myself, you know if this were me and my boat, I’d help him in a heartbeat, but there is no way I’m stopping at this late of night, with this new of a car and with me all alone, just no way!! I get off on my exit, feel a bit sorry for the guy, and hit the toll booth and tell the attendant where he is at and ask her to call Highway Patrol. Finally I’m 20 miles from home, and I think nothing else can go wrong. This time I’m right.
430 in the morning, I get her home, in once piece. Open my garage, rearrange some stuff and pull her in. Man she looks good next to my Truck and Bikes. Garage is a little full, but I can fix that.
445, I finally lay down, have to get up in an hour to go to work, can’t miss today, due to what I HAVE to get done. Kinda stinks, but oh well, she was SO WORTH IT!!
Ok, I know that was long, but just thought I’d let everyone know how she went.
Here are some pics as well, just to make sure itsaz can’t call
Thanks to everyone for helping me out, and listening to me complain about everything. I hope I get to meet you all and if your ever in OK or near with stuff to do, let me know, always up for a ROAD TRIP
Wow, I can’t believe it’s mine
