Dead on. I agree: though I know most of us choose to finance, I still think it is a bad way to live.
Here's a thought--the C5 Z06 from 2002 on has a little more horsepower and is a BARGAIN. I sold mine for about $31K with less than 20K miles. Ultimately, the C5 Z06 is nearly as fun as a C6 Z06 (and more fun than a C6 Coupe), partly because of the lower gearing.

Re: Need a little encouragement.

WOW! Thanks for the feedback!!

It was just what I needed. I am headed out to the dealership after work today. To minimize my remorse I probably won't fund the whole thing with cash, but I may. I guess it all depends on how the numbers break down. I have had to work my butt off to get to where I am, and I don't like turning loose of a large wad of cash. However, I don't like getting the shaft either.

I will let you guys know how it goes.

In talking with the dealer..he says, "MSRP is as low as I can go. The reason being is I can sell it to another dealer for that. I don't want to do that though because I the number of Z's I would be able to get would take a hit."

This dood is the general manager, but that don't mean he is any more trustworthy. Did I mention I love dealing with those guys.

I will report in later.

Thanks again for all the insight.

Re: Need a little encouragement.

BUY, BUY, BUY. I too had an 01Z and sold it after 49k miles and 5-1/2 years to make room for my 06Z. As much as I loved the 01Z, the 06Z is far greater car and more exciting. Just do it.
