I have not seen it in person yet but from what I have seen in pictures and on TV, I think it looks good. I am not a hatchback fan and I don't care too much for the so called Euro styling on american cars. I don't want any stinking Euro crap on my american car. Over all if I were considering a vette, I would not have trouble with the new model. Visually it is some what of an incremental change over the C5. But if you read all of the new features and internal changes, it is worhty of C6. As with the C5, I think the C6 convertible is much nicer looking than the hatchback.
I hope they do even better with the C6 Z06 or what ever designation it gets.
Put it this way. The two cars I most looked forward to seeing this year were the new Mustang, and the new C6. I have a slot reserved in my detached garage that I'm building for something in 06, and it won't be the Chevy.

Sad thing is, the upcoing Z06 sounds soooooo sweet. But sweet or not, I have to like the way it looks and the C6 is barely even a blip on my "that's hot" meter.

I saw a C6 vert in dark blue at the Atlanta show. I know many of you have already seen the car, but here is my impression of it, and my comparison of it to some other cars at the show, for what it's worth.
I think I like it in dark colors rather than red or a bright, light color as the "toothless mouth" grille opening is not so noticeable on the darker car.
This car had a tan interior and I presume the Z51 package, as it had the drilled rotors.
I like it okay. I am not sure I like it better than, or even as much as, my Z06. It seems taller than a C5. It is shorter on the back side, but looks pretty chopped. Overall, the outside is, on a 1-10 scale, about a 7 or maybe an 8 to me, with my Z06 being a solid 8 or maybe a 9. It looks better in person than in pics. In person, it surely looks like a Corvette.
The interior, although I couldn't actually sit in it, looked weak. It seemed too American luxury car and not enough sports car. Since I couldn't sit in it, I have no opinion on material quality.
At Damneer Chrysler, they had a bright red Viper on display, and frankly, it is a better looking car. It looks much less like a cartoon than did the first generation, and it seems smaller and tidier. It really looks fantastic in person. The new Ford GT is a ten, except for the wheels, which look at bit frumpy. It needs a wheel with more void, visible lugs, and a smaller hub--I assume there will be numerous aftermarket options to address this issue. Since I couldn't sit in the Viper or the GT, it's hard to address interiors. The Viper's looks pretty good, but not great, and the GT's is very purposeful and racecar-like. No comment on quality.
I went to the Porsche, BMW and Mercedes displays, and frankly, in terms of paint, panel fit, and interiors, they look better--especially the BMWs and Benzes in our price range. I tried to focus on the cars more or less in the price range of our Zs, as I do not think it fair to compare a Maybach to a 50K car. While the Germans may require more maintenance and may be less reliable, they do have a very high quality look and feel about them. The M3, for example, has a very high quality feel.
What's interesting here is that the Germans have among the highest labor costs in the world. How can their 50K car feel so much higher quality than our 50K car? My only guess is their executives make much, much less, they reinvest more of their profits rather than pay dividends, and they are making much more profit per unit than GM (no huge discounts or 0% financing), so they can afford to upgrade these items more. In reality, as we all know, a Z06 is about a 45K car, whereas I bet you pay nearly full freight for an M3, so maybe they are not so comparable. I have no hard data on what it really costs to produce these cars.
Anyway, I still am hoping the C6 Z06 is a grand slam, and in particular that it ditches those 2 piston/1 piston brakes for some real brakes with larger rotors, titanium pistons, and 4 or 6 pistons front, and at least 2 in the back, as a car of this capability should have. If the Subaru WRX Sti has Brembo four piston calipers at its price point, Vettes should, too, and especially the Z06!
Feel free to disagree with anything I've said--just my opinion.
