New C6Z or low mil.'05 911TT (996)

Should I get a brand new C6 Z06 or a used '05 Porsche Turbo (996) with low miles for the same price?

Drive both and decide which you like better.

Driven both here briefly.

The Turbo is about as quick as a C5 Z06. Turbo lag sucks....gotta be in the right gear if you wanna haul arse. Heavier car. Good for daily driving and comfy. Decent handling characteristics. Looks a little bland to me in stock form, but lower it, tint it, and add some wicked deep dish wheels and it's stunning.

The C6 Z06 will spank it in performance....straight line and in the twisties. Lighter weight and wider tires makes for pretty good handling. Powerful and smooth engine. Comfy and good enough for a daily driver. Pretty tough and intimidating looking car...just needs to be lowered a bit. The stock Z06 wheels are very nice looking....good taste, GM.

I'd take the Z06 given my experience.

I have been in the driver seat of the Turbo. It is much more refined and the brakes are unbeatable. I believe the Turbo is better built but maintenance and parts are SO expensive! I love the fact that it is an all-wheel-drive which suites the roads better ( my old '98 C5 vette rear tires used to break loose at 60MPH in a kick down)
I have seen lots of videos on the new Z06, I just love it. It looks right (despite the rear finders where the tires are out of line and the interior) It sounds right and it stirs my soul but I just hate it when GM screws up with a legend. Lots of C6 Z06 drivers are starting to complain about the rear-end! come on GM!! Please make the car work a least.

P.S. My old C5 caught on fire one day after firing it up... lots of molten plastic and the cause was a broken fuel line!! Thank God I was home to put the fire off!! Dealer paid $$$ to repair it on warranty

I've driven many turbo 996s modded and stock and I own a C6Z06. I think first off you have to ask yourslef what kind of guy you are. Are you a driver or a cruiser. Not making any judgments on either. The C6Z is a far better divers car and the TT is a better cruisers car. The TT is quieter, better apointed, more refined, more upscale and more exclusive. It will likely impress the neghbors more. The things I don't like about it are the numb steering, the numb brakes, the quiet exhaust. For me it's a very boring sports car to drive. It works good as a GT car though which is what Porsche makes it for now. I drove a 600hp 996TT and it still was not as fast as the Z06.
The Z06 is better in performance in evey way. It brakes better, goes better, turns better. It suffers a little from the numbs as well due t the run flats and the interiors not as nice but other than that I can't find too much fault with it. It's a phenominal car.

Buy the one that makes YOU smile the most. It's your 70 grand. Have you checked out the Porsche forums as well? If you ask the question here you're most likely to get biased answers toward the Z. The opposite would be true on the Porsche forum. Sift through everything with a grain of salt, drive both cars and take home the one that excites you more.

Thank you guys. That was helpful, especially those who have driven both cars. I think if I get the Z and it doesnt break down then that would be great.

In addition, you're getting a new car (Z06) versus a used car with x-miles on it.How was it driven? Wrecked? Properly broken in? The 997 TT is out so,you don't have the latest and greatest. I love P-cars,but I also prefer to buy new.Do what's best for you.All of life's decisions should be this hard.
