Ya can't. It's illegal. You just have to find a shop willing to take the risk of a $25,000 fine and losing their license.
"Could you please list the parts I would need to buy? What type of shop would cut open the muffler? any speed shop? I don't think Midas will do in lol"
As for the parts, you need 4 band clamps for 2 1/2" exhaust. Parts houses for 18 wheelers sell them. As for where, download the pics, any good welder should be able to do it. I'd start with a small, independent, muffler shop, and they should know where to pick up the band clamps.

I only have 1,200 miles on mine and decided i like the mild to wild switch too, but i want it to have some more noise, so i just ordered LG Long tubes with High Flow cats and for now im sticking with the OEM exhaust, i can always get a cat back system if this doesnt do it for me. I didnt want to go cat-less so that my run engine light would stay on. I don't think im putting it on a dyno anytime soon, so that was the safe route for me. Though i think i like the sound of the Borla S-type the best (also check out GHL), seems to have a deeper less raspy sound then the Corsa in my opinion. I'll have my headers installed next week and update on what it sounds like with the OEM muffler.

A few people have told me to look at GHL! Do they have more than one style?

From what i see it only looks like one style for the Z06, YouTube has has a video with a guy with LG long tubes and GHL exhaust. B & B has the same butterfly exhaust option as our OEM so that might be worth wild to check out too. though i still think its a higher pitch then Borla or even our stock exhaust. I have not heard them in person so i can't really tell for sure. I think if your looking for more noise then you cant go wrong with headers and high flow cats, the set up is really the same price and i think its going to give the best sound. My dealer is installing mine and it wont effect the warranty.
Ok so i had my LG long tube headers installed today, i must say its a very different sound then stock, i wouldnt say its that much louder, just a different tone all together, though at idle it is more noticeable then stock, it is louder underneath the cabin and you can hear the chug of the cam. It took the drone out of the exhaust at 2,000 rpms and has a lot less back pressure sound when decelerating in gear. I have the stock exhaust on, and i've already decided im going to buy the borla S-type cat back setup, i want more rumble than i have now so that is what im going to do. I will lose my mild to wild switch, but i've found i never close it anyway, if your easy on the gas when you have to be quiet, i dont think it will matter..
OK you want loud, and have everyone go holy crap every time you go anywhere??? do what i just did, LG long tube headers, High Flow Cats, Borla S type cat back mufflers...ITS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! night and day from Stock with valves open. I just put my Killer Bee intake on last night 10 min install and I'm all set.. it sounds like an old 67 now, and everyone at work says i love that sound, to bad i can no longer show up to work late, i can't hide in this car!!! its wasn't cheap but either was the car, worth every penny to me, but if your worried about to much noise go with the touring exhaust. though at highway speeds its not loud at all.. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th on the other hand are a different story..haha..

I personally don't like it too loud & rumbly... I don't think it matched the sleekness of the car. Like Lambo's... you never here them popping all loud like a Harley... do you? There's a certain level of class this car portrays... sleek, fine art, with balls of steel! I love the mild to wild switch... I have it hooked up to Homelink... I just want it louder when it's open. I'm going to put high flow cats, & headers (for performance anyway) and then do that cheap mod (cutting open the stock exhaust and clamping the straight pipe) - that would be perfect for me... I heard it's 40-50% louder than stock when they are open, and only 5-10% louder than stock when they are closed... now I'm just trying to find a shop that will do it...
