***New member, New car, Advice needed! ***

Hey guys, about 6 months ago I got my graduation present a beautiful black on black 07 Z06. (I know its early but it coincided with Christmass too) It has been a great car especially after upgrading the audio system, putting on a Vararam SC-1, a Borla Cat-Back system and a few other light mods. While I did get great results out of those I have been wanting to get some more performance out of the car.

A buddy of mine who is well respected in the street racing communty and knows Hondas like the back of his hand recommended we port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand, so we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.

I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we hooked it up directly to the thing we hooked up the Vararam too on the top front of the engine and made sure that a lot of air got in there too. I also made sure to bring up the Rev's slow, so that we were putting in no sand untill about 2000 RPM, and brought it up to 5000 RPM where we were sucking in a fair ammont.

After running the car for about 7 minutes at 5000 RPM and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.

Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about Corvettes.

I'd like to help but I've never intentionally sucked sand through my intake.

I've used bead glass in conjunction with a tornado intake. Together, I got a wonderful swirling pattern that really increased my airflow. Man that sukka makes some power now. My next mod is to install the turbo insert into the exhaust so I can add to my driving pleasure.

I hope you are kidding... otherwise you should hit yourself repeatedly on the head with a tackhammer.

You can't be serious because you only used a 25 lb bag. Everyone knows you get better polishing done using a 50 lb bag. Keep us posted.
