I just had a new process used on my redone 01. Although the 3M product works quite well, one of its major drawbacks is that the film sheets that are applied to the car do not wrap over the edges of the body panel. This leaves edges around all the panels where the film is applied. When washing a waxing the car, you can get wax and polish caught along the edges of each film sheet, and have to be dilligent at removing it after each application, which is time consuming.
There is a new product, that provides the same protective characteristics as the 3M film, that can sprayed onto the car like paint. This allows the elimination of all those edges. This new product is really nice, and provides the same level of protection, without the need to constantly having clean excess wax/polish from the edges of each film sheet.
I will call my paint shop tommorrow to get the name of this product.
Hey guys, I had my 02' Z done about a month ago up here in Maryland by a guy named David Benz. He is a certified 3m installer and actually goes around the country to train others to be installers. He did an AWESOME job on my car, I would recommend him highly. PM me if you want his phone #. Like I said he travels all over the U.S. so highly likely he would be in your area at some time in the near future.

With all the "love bugs" and stuff we have here in FL..its almost a must..
"film spray", cool.

I recommend you stay away from the 3M film. I've seen a few black cars with it and the film had turned an ugly, dull, yellow color. My friend's C6 (daily driver) had the film also and he had to remove it after about one year because it looked so bad. He was able to keep some pieces on, like the ones that are placed right behind each wheel to protect against road chipping.
I would look into the spray-on film mentioned by someone else instead, or not do anything at all.
I found a guy here in Boca Raton called Supershield. They use 3M and he said there is more than one grade. The one he has comes w/ a warranty against yellowing and the higher grade also has an extra shiney finish. Here in Fla it is a must. Btwn the bugs, coral dust, and sand it doesn't take long to look like s--t! I learned the hard way w/ 03. Is this high $540. just to do the bumper. $970. for bmpr, hood, fenders and mirrors. It just cost me 750 to paint my hood and bumper on the 03Z!!!
Just talked to my body guy, the spray on product is called Armorshield. I had my car done by Red Finish Autobody here in the Tampa area, and they did a fabulaous job.
Hey Mark can you see it at all. Do they tape it off? And once done, say 3yrs from now, it looks a little beat up, how does it come off? How thick is it?
