That off-again/on-again super-Corvette is definitely on, according to General Motors performance cars chief Tom Wallace.
Wallace, who replaced recently retired Corvette chief engineer Dave Hill, tells AutoWeek the biggest challenge facing the so-called Blue Devil Corvette is figuring out how to get 600 hp to the ground in such a way that it can be handled by a driver with the money to buy the car.
Wallace said GM is considering requiring that Blue Devil—and even Z06—buyers attend a driver school as part of the price of admission.
A high performance driving school is not such a bad idea. I've owned a number of high perfromance cars and thought I knew how to drive until I attended my first DE. That's when I figured out how much I did not know. You can only learn so much on the street and retain your driver license. Besides HPDE are a lot of fun just ask anyone who has attended one and the one Mark has organized in Nashville for the fest is about as much fun as you can have in your car.
Very smart idea. I'm not doing the HPDE this year, I will most definitely do it next year.

Funny, there is no offering of a "driving school" if you were able to afford a Veyron. 1,000 HP.
I guess GM figures guys who want to show off and are not really driving entusiasts (like most the Porsche crowd) will go out put there foot init and cause some serious damage...to others.

Pretty sure a few of the super high end cars come with driving schools as well.
And as for the Porsche comment they have wayyy more driving events at tracks than vette groups. This is a fact....a sad fact but a fact none the less.
Every forum..every make..every car has all the groups. The show offs, the gear heads, the track whores, the daily drivers, the collectors, the wax queens, ect.

The porsche guys as well as the BMW guys dig vettes and are all good sports as they are really impressed what a C5 corvette can do..
Can't speak for their opinions on the C6 but I'm sure they are going nuts over the C6 Z06..
I've always had a good time at the Porsche events..
Cool news about the upcoming blue devil!
Hope you guys are enjoying the updates ...as they become public.
