I don't have any facts (sorry), but I'll throw out an opinion just for the sake of conversation. IMHO GM would be crazy to mess with the hp of the Z right now. The car is still selling very well. If I was in charge, I'd hold off on any potential bumps in hp until sales start to slack off. Besides that, why risk pissing off a bunch of loyalists by bumping power this early in the run? Obviously that wasn't a concern for GM from '01 to '02, but I think it's a bad move.

I haven't seen anything but speculation. It varies from no changes, to the SS(Blue Devil)replacing the Z entirely (dropping the Z06), to the addition of the SS to the line.

My opinion is no changes in 2008 initially but not ruling out a mid year or early 2009 intro of a limited production Hi-End Corvette. JMHO

Haven't seen any hard facts.

BTW, this article says the C6 Z is "stupid"

isn't 08 the 55 year anniv. of the Corvette? I'm sure we'll see some anniversary edition. Perhaps a white/white version like in '88?

I thought the LS3/L92 was going to replace the LS2?

Interesting that Dodge is going to only producing sold-orders for Viper. Considering there is a glut right now of new Zs (300+) I don't see Z sales doing all that great right now. But, I'm sure the slow down of sales over the winter months is factored in by GM. I bet the first indication that something may be afoot is whether or not the Z gets discounted this winter/spring.

A dealer stock of 300+ is a long way from a glut. With over 1000 dealers nationwide, they are still a long way from filling stock orders.A 30 day supply at dealers is fairly low and 300 at fair prices would be long gone in less than 30 days.

Nabbs,

No Horsepower increase for the Z06 in '08. I strongly believe there will be a increase in Horsepower for the STD C6.

Sales are flat for the C6 and a bump in Horsepower will renew excitement for the Coupe and Vert. A 425HP/LS3 (perhaps GM will use the 6.2 motor) Car will create trade ups from C5 and perhaps early C6 owners.

If your looking for a pre-owned '06 Z06, you should look for a build date from March '06 forward. Most of the Motor failures ,Tranny problems and rear end issues occurred prior to the March Build Dates. I got the information during my conversations from GM's Buy Back Division when finalizing my Buy Back of my '06 Z06, FWIW.

Best of Luck!

Les

That's the first time I've seen the Blue Devil without the mule bra. I thought I might like the look of the hood, but alas, I don't.

Excellent info Les! Thank you very much!

One question: how do I determine the build date from the VIN (is that possible?)? So far I've been asking sellers to provide proof of TSB repairs.

Thanks again!
