Just picked up the Z last night... awesome car ... BUT... when I switched from the RF's to the Michelin PS2's, not only do the tires not live up to their reputation of being 'MUCH QUIETER & SOFTER" ... but the car seemed to "skip" when driving hard and going from 1st to 2nd gear... and slid a tad coming around a slight bend (25-30mph and dry out) approx. 74 degrees outside... got me real nervous, and now I'm questioning the PS2's... I always read great reviews on all of the forums, and only read that they were "stickier????" Please advise...
I had them on my C5Z and it was quite an improvement over the stock. The tread wear was much longer as my stock tires were shot in 9000 mls with no burn outs and T/C always on. They were quieter & good in the rain also. One suggestion would be to wear them in a little as they do have a coating on them kinda like cosmolene. I intended to put them on the C6Z soon I hope they didn;t change anything. Ther was someone here that switched to them and said great things in comparison to stock on the C6Z. I thought they didn't come in the stock size yet and were do in a couple of months. If that is the case did you put those 345's on and maybe have a bow across the tread because of the rim not being wide enough for the 345's? Just a thought. Also I had some tires mounted a while ago on the old Z and when I left to drive home it drove terrible. Hard, loud, and edgy. Then I went around a hard turn and it fishtailed on a 92 degree day! Pulled over and checked the tires then checked the tire pressure. 59 lbs!!!! THey obviously over inflated them to seat the beads, which shouldn't be done, and never set the proper PSI. After that it was a whole different car. Give a check ya never know.

Hey Jason - many congrats on picking up the new Z!!!
The car has so much power that there are hardly any tires that the thing isn't going to break loose. If you hammer it and they don't spin you're gonna break the rear end.
I don't have have PS2's, but I've got PS's. I don't see any difference between the Goodyears and the Michelins (Michelins might be a little bit quieter). I'm not a track expert, but I've driven the car very hard on the Rolex 24 course at Daytona on the stock Goodyears and they performed great. When they get warmed up they stick very well in the corners and up on the bank doing 150 with .5/.75 lateral G's the car feels very solid. I think the Goodyears get a bad rap that is undeserved.
On the street you just can't get more than about 20% of what this car is capable of unless you're doing something crazy or illegal. The Goodyears can handle that easily. As you've seen with your PS2's, even if they are a little stickier they still can't handle even a small percentage of what this car can put down - especially if it isn't pointed straight when you put your right foot down. I think that's what you experienced on the 1->2 shift, and it will happen easily on the 2->3 shift as well. Be careful if you're in 3rd gear at about 60 coming onto the interstate - if you hammer it to accelerate you can end up sideways in an instant.
Be very careful for awhile - this car has awesome power!!!!
What's your tire's air pressure? If it's above 30-32 in the rears, they will do just as you described. I had the PS2's and they were a great improvement over the gy runcraps. Only prob I had was that the factory had lowered my C6Z06 (It spent two weeks in QC) all the way and the 345's in the rear rubbed when going fast through the twisties and I hit a little dip.
So the verdict is the PS2's are a great street tyre then? Do they need a few miles to warm up perhaps?
I am trying to decide on a set of tyres that will have some resemblance of grip below 4th gear - PS2's are on my short list. (but then again, so are the Sport Cups and Toyo 888's)
I have had PS2s on a 996 TT and a BMW 335 i. In both cases they were a substantial improvement over stock. I am just waiting to wear down my runflats--4K miles so far and going strong--and I will put PS2s on the Z06.
I think with the right pressure and a few miles on them they will seem a lot better to you than they do now.
Congrats on the car! Check your air pressure in all tires as recommended above. All new tires have to be broken in also - about 300+ miles. Give them a little more time.

All tires are filled to 31-32psi... Drove about 350 mi so far, loving every aspect of this car... And tires!!! Only problem... I took my mother for a ride ( she's owned many vettes... 79, 84, 96, 2000, & 03) so she said, "ok, let's see what this baby's got" so I took her from 0-60 in roughly 3.7 seconds... Didn't phase her in the least!! Haha... So mods... Here I come!!!

Not a fan of the PS2's. However just put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport ZP's and they are the S***!!!!!!!!! Quieter than the GoodYears, and better straight line traction!
The last set of brand new tires I put on a car had me very concerned for the early usuage.. I thought the car was sliding all over the place ...and it was in the summer time..
It ended up that the tires needed some heat cycles etc.. I don't know what exactly but it needed some miles...or time etc.. to get down to being the excellent tires that they are..

Actually, the tires are coated w/ a cosmoline-type sealer (makes tread slick) & that takes a bit to work its way out of the porous tread. Once it's gone, the tires will be @ 100%

thanks..I didn't know what was coating the new tires but it was like driving on ice..
once it wore off though ...the tires are good to go..
I definitely noticed it at first though..
I was like...What the hell did I do when I bought these xyz branded tires....?
I've had PS2's on an M3, a 997S, and a C5 ZO6. They are good tires, and you will probably be satisfied with them. And yes, there is some residual release agent left on the tires from the molding process, but it should scrub off after a couple of spirited driving sessions. Frankly, I think the GY runflats get unfair criticism. The PS2's, although very good tires, have comparatively softer sidewalls, and the handling is not as sharp. The grip is as good, just a bit more movement. The Michelin is much better in the wet. That, and a little softer ride are the only advantages I saw.
