Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

Unfortunatley they are getting some good prices for used ones at the dealer. One is you get the5yr/100,00 ml warranty and they play it against the new 08 at $77,790.00 for the 2lz. I was looking around forever and just this week I pulled the trigger on the 08 because I got 5000 off sticker. Thje 06-07 were going for 65000- 70000 w/ less than 6000 mls around me. If it wasn't broken in right you'll need that warranty in the future. For me it wasn't enough of a savings to risk it. They are starting to play on MSRP latley. Try the www.jeffhardy.com website to locate new 07 & 08 out there. Good luck!

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

A month ago...I was Quoted 8% off on an 08 loaded VY $58,400 MSRP C6 coupe...only option it did not have was the Z06 exhaust cutouts...same discount applied to any "ordered car"...this one was in stock. I drove the car 200 miles in two days ... the 430hp/LS3 is strong smooth and slick as is the entire car, just not a Z... But I digress 8 percent is not bad...

If you're buying from a dealer, I would go for an '08. I don't think discounts will be very big on a 2006 or 2007 yet. If you find an '07 on the lot and if they want to move it, they might give you $3k+ off sticker. But, the '08 has the revised interior, steering and tranny. I would lean towards the '08. Good luck.

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

I agree the 08 has a couple of nice new features which pushed me there. Always having buyers remorse in the past I have none on this one. Hey mainyak great choice! I was 2 inches from an 08 z51 coupe also. Great bang for the buck. I think the General has these two models too close now. I also think the Z is overpriced in comparison. Whole different animal but 20-25 thousand for a class up is a bit much. In 03 the Z was around the convertable price and the trade off was more performance less luxury no convertable. I was real comfortable taking the performance and fixed roof for the money. This coming from a guy who just bought the 08 Z!!!! And I love it so far but the spread is vast.

Nice Choice Yourself

I did not pull the trigger for two reasons..ok three:

First: The car is wonderful...smooth and prissy.. not knarley/nasty fun like my04Z Girlcar/boycar sums it up

Second: The thing I so crave in the Z in some open roof ~sun/fresh air
the thing about the 08 Coupe that so amazed me was that with the roof off it was like being in a cement mixer ... Anything over 50 is hell ... noisey and rough ... also the curtain privacy flap for the trunk blows in the wind like curtains in a hurricane by an open slider door. This could be fixed with some Velcro tho I think. I am not being a wind wuss here I have two others cars with a sunroof and have logged a few miles in a vert...This car with the roof off makes ya long for a convertable.

Last Gripe: Radio w Sat/Nav/CD/DVD/ system nice but OMG
Call me old fashioned !!(got my license in Oct 57) But having to hit soft keys on a
touchscreen to select radio modes...ie...AM/FM/CD/Sat is so not
good in a vette. A simple dash or steering wheel mounted
sequencial selector swich would have been good here.

Now..if I could just get another nice reliable 100 or so HP on the
04 Z16 ...ok ok 150 hp

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

Different strokes I guess....I kinda like my girlycar. We ran into a Z16 here at a gas station. MikesZ06 and I were in his girlycar C6Z06 and the Z16 owner said in that he eats regular C5Z06's for lunch due to his Z16 being a corvette that is race tuned directly from the factory! We were AMAZED!!!! We knew that the Corvette had a factory race team, but not that it extended to the Z16!!!

That's a very good, if not great, price.

What I said earlier about discounts applies to cars here in socal. We're not getting deals like those here... not yet.

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

Your in Maryland, and not too far from Kerbeck in Atlantic City NJ. About 11 days ago they had an 08 1lz for 65900. Brand new!!! Right now they are advertising on their website that they are discounting the 08 Z's. I'm sure not to 65 but you have to look in to Kerbeck being so close. Damn, I was going to jump on a $100. flight a week ago but I needed to trade. I know 5-8 thousand difference is a lot of money but you do get some extra's w/ the 08 and you get to break it in right w/ a full warranty. I was right where you are a week ago and I was fortunate enough that they had both cars I was considering. An 07 w/ 5000mls for 66000 or the 08 which I got for 5000 off sticker at 72700. I have no buyers remorse! Dollars to donuts the 08 made sense at this level. Do it if you can. Good luck! Jim

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

MaineYak2000 I didn't forget about you. I totally agree w/ you. I had an 99 coupe and hated it w/ the top off. Felt like I was in a hurricane. The convertable would be the only other choice and you could still save some bucks and have a great ride. Or get the painted top and pretend it doesn't come off like I did w/ my 99!!!! The new Z is way up there to buy outright. If I didn't have my 03 paidoff to trade I'd still be in it!! I hate the new nav I'm ready to rip it out and put it on ebay. Well mabey! Good luck Jim

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

I paid 69k for my base 2LZ w/museum delivery. MSRP is 74500

I'm dropping in a Pioneer Z2 nav/radio and get some non-runflat rims once these wear out.

Its nothing special but getting 5k off on a base car (vs car + high margin options) proved tricky. Many offer 5k off those 77790 loaded cars but the discount seemed to shrink when you take options off.

I'm supposed to get the TPW this week, I'm checking my mail every 2 hours haha.

Re: Purchase price at dealers ?

Thats a great deal and a good way to go. I had to trade and the dealer was close by and this baby was on the floor. I did well on the trade and got the 5000 off so it worked out. I'll agree I didn't want the nav or chrome wheels. Good luck

LOL as the Chinese saying goes

"It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be percieved as a fool than to speak and remove all doubt"

Maybe I'll get one of those fancy Z16s
