The fender ID stripes started back on the Cobras in the 60's, so the crews could ID the same color team cars as they entered the pits at speed. Thus, they were usually brightly colored. Dayglo colored front spoilers and headlight covers were popular .......to differentiate team cars in IMSA and Trans Am races......mirrors too.
My predominately black or dark blue race cars usually had a dayglo orange front spoiler and mirrors. Very helpful at Sebring and Daytona. The Penske Camaros always had dayglo colored front spoilers too.
That said, I like the fender hash marks on ZO6 fenders....Just like the original Grand Sport Corvette racers. Corvettes have earned their stripes !!
