Just purchased an 08, I see few rock chips on my hood and a few on other body panels. Is this a common problem with vettes since they are so low to the ground (this is my first corvette)?
Yes, pretty common to get an occasional chip on the nose. That's why many guys use a bra on the highway. Clear bras (like 3M) is another option but it's pricey.
The sides of the car are another story. Most of the chips come from stones from your own wheels.
They make extensions for the C6 fender guards that blend in pretty nice, or again, clear paint protection is an option if the damage isn't already done.
The brake cooling inlet for the rear wheels is a common target of stone chips.
Some guys, like me even use painter's tape on occasion.

I have about $2200 worth of Clear Bra on my car and not one single chip. It is a worthwhile investment. I hate having to worry about my paint when I drive my car!!
The only way to avoid them is to leave the car in the garage
(Not an option in my case. My Z is not a garage knick-knack)
...and yes, my car is sandblasted except where/when I use my SL bra.

Guys--I have (finally) some rock chips wedged in the rocker panel under the doors that extends back to the rear quarter panel.
Any tricks for getting them out? Thanks for any ideas you may have.
Rob
I bought air in a can (typically used on computer keyboards) at the local store. It comes with a small straw that you can use to direct in there and blow them out.
