I was disapointed , it looked smaller and not as low, the inside didnt do anything for me. I hope it grows on me but i dont think it will. with the buzz that Ford had going at there booth ( Gt 40,the Cobra, and the new stangs including the GTR) I thought Chevy really droped the ball. I dont think I will be selling the Z anytime soon.unless maby i can get my hands on the Gt40 , that thing was awsome!

I saw the Orange Coupe and Blue Vert at the Fort Lauderdale show a few weeks ago. I definitely liked the Vert lines better and the cheesy looking gray plasticy third brake light was not as noticeable on the LeMans Blue Vert.
I really think Car & Driver hit the nail on the head with their 11/16ths comment. Personally, I would have liked to see a bigger change for a "new" generation. The new Z is gonna have to show me a lot more than what I have seen so far to justify my purchase of one. If the C5 basic architecture was so good that this 11/16ths was the best GM could do - I could do my own 11/16ths evolution with my '02 - to wit:
1. Improved Power - IC Mag SC (500 rwhp)
2. Exterior Styling - Caravaggio Hood
3. Improved handling - plus one wheel/tire upgrade
4. Upgraded Interior - a few more Vette Essentials pieces plus a pair of Caravaggio seats.
Cost to acquire new Z: Estimated @ $35k ( my car sold)
Cost to Upgrade my Z: Estimated @ $16k

Yup, the C6 is a major yawn in the design department. There are things that I think are nice about it for example: the pushbutton keyless start, exposed headlights, upgraded interior materials. But overall the new design just looks like the bastard child of a C5 and a Honda Civic to me. I think it's the stupid smiling mouth looking front end, and the cheap/tacky looking plastic on the bottom of the rear that ruin the whole car for me. The only way I see myself driving a C6 is if the Z06 is significantly better looking, or the aftermarket comes up with something to make up for the complete and utter failures of the GM design department. Has it become some kind of requirement that all Chevys are not allowed to ivoke any kind of passion? Other than the Corvette and the SSR I can't think of anything in the current lineup that looks like it would be remotely interesting to drive (which is why my second car is a Toyota Celica which is the only Japanese car I've ever owned because I can't find any modern low priced American cars that look fun to drive).
Saw several at the NCM, and the exterior and interior were both disappointing, particularly in view of a couple of the alternative clays that were done. A number of the design choices made served to cheapen the final car.
Sat in every one I saw, and the interior seemed noticeably smaller than the C5. I also felt cramped in the shoulder area, like I do in C and E-class Mercedes. I'm not that big, and it may be an issue for some people.
One of the designers I spoke with said the Z version was going to be radically different, and he may have hinted the coves would be different. Not sure. At this point, however, I don't have much confidence in the program.
He [understandably] wouldn't comment on whether it'd be a trunk lid or hatchback, which make me lean toward hatchback.
FWIW. Nice guy, though, and his time and candor were much appreciated.
