WOW- And I thought the fools on E-bay bidding high fives for one are crazy ! I saw a Saleen at the local dealer- also very high fives list, nice looking, but over 60 thou with fees for a Stang- don' t think so !
Just bought a cool shelby out in FL today, for only 40 thou over sticker. I'll post pics tomorrow because I am having trouble pulling this iron rod out of my

You know I don't get why some of my Mustang brothers don't get that. I love Mustangs. The first car in my signature is a Mustang. If I have to get rid of 2 of the 3 in the sig, the Mustang will be the one left. But facts is facts. The power to weight ratio of a C6 vs the GT500 clearly shows the Shelby isn't gonna win a race with a Corvette (drivers, etc, being equal). Just not going to happen. I LOVE the looks of the Shelby, but the damn thing is just too stinking FAT. I may buy one once the markup insanity is gone and they are being discounted, but I would never buy one expecting to spank a C6.
As for the Z06....my math says the GT500 will need AT LEAST 565RWHP to have a prayer of keeping up with a Z06. That's gonna mean a bit more than a pulley swap.

What? You were in Florida today and you didn't stop by?

I agree SC except I think the GT500 would require 585 RWHP just to match the C6Z in straight line acceleration. Trust me, it would take an incredible amount of work and money, bordering on a miracle, to make the GT500 even begin to approach the C6Z06 on an open track road course.
I paid MSRP -$1500 for the Cobra plus the mods it cost about $50K. It was a lot of fun, but I would have been better off with a C6 had they been availble in April of '03. Even with all of its mods the '03 was top heavy and sluggish by comparison. It's not just the obesity but also the way it is distributed unevenly. It sure sounds bad assed though.
I'm glad I went through the experience with the Cobra but now I have seen the light.
