Walked up...and all the sales people were lined up in the front waving. Did the intro and told him that I was interested in a Z06. He showed me an Atomic Orange up front. On the sticker, a "Protection Package" supposedly for the paint for $2500. Looked at the Jet Stream Blue inside...$10,000 markup. The reason, to keep only the serious buyers to look at the car. Walked off after looking at the sticker. His comment, "You're not even going to give me a chance?" Well, the serious buyers who knows the market and, like me, will be deterred from even looking at it. So if anyone else would like to do the look and walk off, please visit your Chevy dealership in Union City, GA

in today's market, they don't make sense at all. Some of the dealerships I've talked to think it's still 2006 when the new Z06 first came out.

Pauln64 said it best! I went thru this all year while poking around. Same thing was happening in 03 till they woke up, Thats when I bought 4500 off sticker back then. This time.(2 wks ago) when I walked in and saw a 10,000 over sticker I started yelling quite loudly as to what idiot had the idea of putting a markup in this market. Of course the manager came over to calm me and then asked am I in the market or not? I replied " listen hotshot, I have my checkbook w/ me are you serious or delusional?!! I said I'll buy right now when you start talking how much under sticker! I had a trade so 8 hrs later I drove out at 5000 off sticker on an 08 2lz black w/ chm. Be nasty and hold out. Don;t forget how arrogant these guys were just 6-8 mnths ago. Good luck

It's best to cinch the best deal over the phone or the Internet. I got already got a quote on a black 1LZ for 65,500.00 and I'm not really in the market yet.

Paint protection? Duh...it comes from the factory, aka clear coat.

There are a lot of people who would not think about shopping out of town. The big dealers in this area generally think they control the market and you have to pay what they want. You can't help but wonder how dealerships like Bill Heard sell enough volume to get a big allocation. Tells you there are a lot of people that don't really shop.

Walking into a stealership is a joke now a days. First off, half the people on the floor don't have a clue of the product. Someone tells them some BS and they spread it to the future clients.

Like Jub said, if/ when I do get lucky enough to start shopping, I will probably do the majority of the deal over the phone or internet. Tony, I might be looking your way in awhile for some contacts.

Have you glanced over eBay.....plenty of dealers selling new @ or below MSRP. Just a thought.

Already had. There's a dealer in KS that has Jet Stream Blue that didn't sell on Ebay. He called me over the weekend and I'll be contacting him today to see.

Go get it buddy!! I really like the JSB, finally saw one in person at the Fest. I think it has to be my favorite of the available color options. JMO

I mentioned in another thread that I went to a dealer a week or so ago and they had a new '07Z with a $10,000 markup. Someone in the market like myself may find this to be insulting. I refused to hear any offer.... Their loss!

I just got my VIN today and after arranging the finances I'm gonna go pick it up sometime next weekend. I cant flippin wait!

I think I've seen 4-5 Z owners now. It'd be cool to meet up.

FYI about now - you can expect 5.5-6k off msrp.

I saw one at Carlisle, can't say I would pick the color as my first choice, but it is pretty sharp in person.
