Can't have $70K cars beating $130 or $192K cars, now can, we? I mean, it just wouldn't be proper.
I totally agree with them about the interior, and the suspension issues over bumps, but man, that's a harsh result considering all the performance categories the Z trashes the other two cars in, *including* time around their handling track.
I love that 430, don't get me wrong, but for a $122K price difference, they could have given the Z a little break on its interior. That $122K is, like, enough to buy a cheap house with the money you saved. Or, hell, a 997TT to use as a beater for the bad weather days when you don't wanna drive your higher peformance Chevy
Ive driven the c6 z and the f 430 both within the same hour (no limits either), and i have to say i agree with the article. the z is a beast but i was more amazed when i got out of the f 430. the shifting, the sound, the controllability (if thats a word). it just felt tight. Now of course i will buy a z any day of the week over a f430.
my 2 cents.
burd.
have video to prove it but not sure how to host it.

I don't think it's a downer. The bottom line is that everyone has their own idea of what's most important in a sports car such as exclusivity, performance, handling, raw power, luxury, style, affordability, etc. Regardless of how you rank them, those are 3 incredible sports cars.

If you see the whole article you'll see the Z won almost every performance mark. It slaughtered them on the track by about 2 seconds on a 2 mile track. It stopped faster from every speed as well. I guess performance doesn't count for much in perormance car magazines. I've driven the 430 and it truly is one of the greats(not as good as the Stradale) but it's not 125 grand better. And the TT Porsche is just another GT Porsche. I almost fall asleep driving the 996TT. Now the GT2 is a different story.
This part of the article was omitted before press time, chevy didnt want prospective C6 Z purchasers which were predominantly C5 owners to realize the car of their dreams was already in their hands.

"Engineered specifically to the owners liking, this is a special edition corvette, at half the price of a C6 Z06 and almost as quick. The insurance rate is half of that of the C6 Z06 as well, the styling is a bit dated but to a few devout C5 owners the C6 styling wasnt necessarily an improvement. This special C5 places first place out of the bunch considering its incredibly sexy and a real bargain."
Just another magazine article to make the Z look bad, clearly we know the Z is a top performer, and does the interior really drag it to a 3rd place finish, i guess it does compared to exotics like Ferrari and Porsche, they should be giving credit to a car with such price, which competes with such cars
The magazines just can't type that the Corvette once again is the worlds best...No body would buy the magazine. We've all read it before a dozen times....
As for the review? I'd say its right on the money...
The Ferrari f430 is a tactile facimile of a formula one race car and thats what is being sought out by those with the money...(either that or the image)
Ferrari has done a great job and at that price they should have...
The Porsche? Its dam fast off the line and a great vehicle in so many ways...
Still the flat out performance of the corvette Z06 C6 is superior to those two vehicles and for that? You gotta love it.
Thanks for the article information.
I'll take third place with pride. GM should too..
Its a performance win and a balance many of us would prefer....
The funny thing to me is, most every mag has driven these cars already or at least very closely related models of these cars. I think I remember C&D testing the Z06, I could look that up. Anyway, they already knew the "interior materials, fit and finish etc." so why bother to do a performance test? They already knew that they wanted to place the Chevy last no matter what the performance was.
I guess I would take all three cars for an extended period of time run them like I wanted to and return them before the Ferrari doing an oil change or brake job if I could too.
All three are world class performance cars what fun that testing must have been, I just wonder if most of the article was written before the first test. I'm glad they printed the "performance" results. I like that better than the subjective writing.

Personally I couldn't say that pitting the Z06 against the mega buck Ferrari and Porsche would make it look bad. After all, look at the company it keeps.

I loved the "Top Gear" test. The F car is pulling 430 gears while the Z is in at 3.42. The Z would do very well against both cars in a test like that being driven in the correct gear. I think that test was to show case the F car. It is way down in torque compared to the other two. I would love to see a video of the standing start 0 to 150 sprint. The Z would put train car lengths on the F car in a test like that. I can over look a "sub-standard" interior for the Z's performance and value. If you want to ungrade the interior I'm sure I can have one to far exceed both the P and F car for under 10K.
All in all I love the F and P cars but the Z is the clear winner in my book. Check Book that is. Just MHO.
