Traded 06 C6Z for 07 C6Z

I traded my 06 C6Z for an 07 C6Z and I am very pleased. Here is why. My 06 was LMB, the 07 is Victory Red. The blue was beautiful but very hard to keep clean and the roof had been repaired. The shifter in the 07 is the best I have ever had in a stock Corvette. I almost always change them but the 07 one is not notchy at all. The OnStar is fantastic. Once a month they email you an analysis of you car. The fit and finish is better. The car rides better. The Nav system is just easier to operate. I don't know why but it is. The car only has 200 miles on it so I can't comment on much more yet. O yea, the clutch vibrates when I start from a dead stop without high RPMs. Has anyone else had this problem? It may be a broken disk spring, a burnt flywheel, something on the disk that may wear off or a bad pressure plate.

No need for pictures, it is a Victory Red C6Z like all the others. I will lower it after about 1,500 miles.

Congrats to you!! I feel the same way about the shifter in my 06. And no clutch chatter at all.

I have a new '07 C6 Z06. The shifter and the overall car feels basically the same with very few exceptions.

It is a bit quieter due to the increased insulation.

The onstar is very nice to have , but I had my Motorola bluetooth hands free system reinstalled from my '06.

The radio controls on the steering wheel. I could care less about this upgrade. I use the mp3 all the time.

I don't think the shifters are different. This one is just smooth as silk. My GM Master Mechanic buddy that drove it said the same thing.

I share your opinion re the shifter but I am comparing it to my '02 Z06 not to an '06. It is SMOOTH and hopefully it will work as well on the track as on the street. My clutch does chatter slightly but I put that down to me being unfamiliar with it rather than a technical issue.

Still trying to get comfortable with the Nav system. First one I've had and it is taking me awhile to decide when to use it versus a good old fashioned map.

I chose MSM and love it.

I just have 200 miles on the car. I will put another 100 on it tomorrow and then let her rip. I will see if the clutch is a problem.

This is the first Nav I have had and I don't know how to do anything yet. Hell, the clock is not even right. I will learn.

I have noticed a few differences between the '06 Z06 I had and my '07 Z06. We all heard about some of them (bigger glove box, no under hood light, no lock on the center console) but I think I have found a few others.

1) My gas tank filler neck seems different. Have you noticed it too? Is the tank the same but the neck is different? It seems like the gas tank is smaller, but I can't find in the manual anywhere how many gallons it is supposed to hold.

2) The engine off button has to be held down longer to turn the car off than on the '06. This is annoying, but I am getting used to it. (The first time I drove the '07 I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn off when I kept hitting the button!)

3) There are ugly little black round things where the rear lower part of the doors meet the body of the car. I guess this is to keep the door alignment better when it shuts?

4) My HUD seems to have a different aspect ratio (seems squashed vertically and stretched horizontally) compared to the display on my '06. Did they change the display for '07, or is it maybe a difference because my '07 has the nav system and my '06 didn't? The '07 display format seems more conducive to diplaying the screens that show up when the nav system is on.

Let me know if you have noticed these things too.

Jeff

Jeff, I have not noticed the gas filler neck but it seem I am filling the tank more. It is getting about 13 MPG for the first 300 miles!

You have to hold the engine on and off button. It will take a long time for me to be comfortable with this.

I have not noticed the little black things. My innterior is all black.

My HUD seems the same.
