Some Vette bashing over at one of the GT500 sites. Very humorous - the guys sound like their trying to convince themselves. Anyone want to start a rumble?
Guess you're right. It's just sour grapes. I do find it amusing that these Mustang fans are always knowcking the "Corvette types," and here you guys are, taking the high road. Good for you!
They've got there heads so far up there a$$ that they cannot make a valid comment or observation. They sound and act like left wing liberals refusing to debate or answer a question. What someone should really ask is why a $55k GT500 is not able to beat a $40k vette. Someone should also point out that the vettes are not fiberglass and the GT500 has a lot of composite body parts too. Last I heard, Chevy never had a car catch on fire sitting in the driveway. I really hate ford owners (like those posting over there) because of this type of attitude. They're not worth my time and energy but I would be glad to let them try to catch me at the track.
This site is much more civil than stangs. Maybe its called style. It's hard to resist a response but there are times when the best response is no response.

From the comments I saw at least 1/2 of them, are the same age as the "vette types" they are laughing about and the other 1/2 is at least my age (36). I know I'm not having a mid life crisis, but if I wanted a Mustang type car I would have kept my Z28. As for the guy who made the comment that vette guys want race, He hasn't found me yet, I'll break his heart.

I just sold my Z06 for a Viper GTS. You guys have been so helpful over the past few years with my idiotic questions. Bashing is the last thing I will do and will still (obviously) visit this forum.

I think that their biggest thrill would be a vette "kill". Their comparisons are made to a C5 or C6. What a shock if they tried a z06. Bye-bye.

Too many people over there are in denial. One guy thinks just because he was stupid enough to pay $70000 for a Mustang, that it will appreciate, because it's so rare. Are they buying the cars to keep in a heated garage or to drive? Even their site's name is funny: stangsunleashed. Unleashed what? 4000 lbs on the public?

last time I was at the strip a GT5000 owner was running 12.6's @ 111 mph with ET streets consistently. Thats pretty pathetic. Thats just the quarter mile, that thing must plow in the turns and kill tires pretty quickly.
Everyone enjoys self gratification and will compare their decision to the next best thing, the corvette. Unfortunately fords attempt to revive a 60's era automotive ideal "gross hp will overcome all" only hit home with a handful of american sportscar enthusiasts.
The majority of the cobra owners I know are pretty bummed with the way ford developed this behemoth.
4k lbs? Is that number just going to roll over on someone? Hmmmm, no friggin sway bar swap, battery relocation, sticky tire combination is going to overcome 4k friggin lbs.
Chevy did the corvette right, the new zo6 is fabulous and other than ejection seats not making it to the production car in conjunction with the ejecting roof the car is flawless.
$55k? I heard some moron's have actually paid $90k for that thing with the mark up. I got my Z 3 yrs ago for $42k, another $10k in mods and Im running 12.2's@119 mph (2.15 60) 346 cid N/A, pulling 1.27 lateral G, and getting 30 mpg on the fwy. Sitting 1k lbs lighter wear and tear is signifcantly less especially the front tires, and I can enjoy racing my car on a race track with turns too.
Id certainly like to give them my opinion, but couldnt set up an account at their forum with hotmail as my email. If someone successfully sends rebuttal include the link to this thread.
Wont race? Bring it buddy, stangs go to the waist side on a weekly basis. I put away a 475 rwhp 03 cobra vert a few months ago, had about 3 cars on him at the top of 3rd from a dig. Your GT5000 will be humbled, by a car that can be had now for half its price.

Tuesday I picked a friend up at the Charlotte airport. We went to Ruth's Chris for dinner. When we came out two guys were standing beside a new black with gold stripes GT500 having a drink. When I started to get into my C6Z parked beside them the owner said, "Nice Car!" I said, "So is yours!" He then said, "You want to see how nice mine is?" I said, "Sure!" So off we went down I-77 somewhere. It was 38 degrees so I was glad to get some time to heat the oil. First time his tires would not hold and I got way ahead. We stopped and he said it was too cold for his tires. I said, "My tires are at the same temperature!" So, he wanted to try again with a roling start. We started at about 38 MPH. At 160 MPH he was allmost too far behind to see. We slowed down and went home. It was not much of a contest because he was not much of a driver. It is the driver's job to get the HP down!
