Want to order Z now, for early spring build or Summer of 07'

While I want the car now, my "master" plan is to get a deposit on one at MSRP or lower. Then save some mad $$$ in the interim with the motivation being, if I can save enough $ I'll keep my 01' Z06. I have $26k saved now . Want to save another $24k in the mean time, my loan will be next to nothing. So I guess I'd like some advice on where to order with this plan in mind. I don't want to get put on a list for 2yrs, yet I don't want to be called next week either with some "good news".
whatcha all think?

Oh, last ?---LBM or VR The 01Z is TR, and while I've never been a fan of red cars, there is just something striking about a red Z. Blue however is my fav color. So I'm very conflicted there.

rest of my thoughts are lined up to
2LZ
stock wheels
museum delivery
no nav-as might replace stereo later

yeah I guess the main thing is getting in the proper line. Like I said, delivery/museum pickup in june/july next year would be perfect

I'd start with the supporting dealer on our forum to see if he has anything that might fit your needs. You might also be able to find some Z's sitting on dealer lots for MSRP by next spring/summer. That's a bit of a gamble, but I really don't think it's too much of a stretch. Best of luck to you!

Last time I talked with Jason, he was booked up through 08.

Woot! Got my order in!
Went to local dealer in town of 20,000 people. Took regular C6 for test drive to make sure I fit in it. I'm 6'4" 220(down from 262 ). Anyway, talking to salesman, stated I wanted to order a new Z06. GM Came over immediately, says they are ordering Z06's for MSRP, but have 4 orders already, and sold all through 2007 allocation. I'd be next I guess on list. That leaves me about July/August of next year unlesss someone drops off list I'd have option to move up. This is perfect for me, I want to save for another year anyway . Put 1k down and gave them options I wanted
Victory Red, Eboy/Red leather, 2LZ, Museum Delivery . Was a truely painless experience. They were a joy to deal with, and are tripping over themselves in effort to help get my ECBM issue comp'd or partially comp'd through GM goodwill on my 2001 Z06 .
IF anyone wants to get order in AFTER me , I have name of salesman dealership etc... You can PM me if you wish. I'll forward his info to you. Just keep in mind I'm #5 on list and they only get 3-4 allocations a year he said. I think if they keep selling more he said they might get more though .
WOOT! So excited, had to tell similar minds my news!
