hey guys, i purchased my vette about 2 weeks ago and noticed when i drive at low rpm from 1st to 2nd, there is a metal rattling sound from the right it seems havn't look at the bottom but curious. Does this happen to many, if not what could remedy this issue? thanks.
Okay, when I'm driving off in first gear going smoothly without the RPM's being high there's a rattle, escially when i down shift to 2nd gear to take a corner when i aplly the gas at around 1000 - 1200 RPM. You know it almost reminds me of an old diesel truck sound when taking off.

I'll listen to mine this evening, but I think I have noticed something myself on the right side. Now you got me wondering. I'll let you know if I hear it. The noise I am thinking about is not very loud at all.
I notice some transmission rattling taking off if rpm is too low, I'm sure most Z owners live throught it or learn to avoid it after a while. The clutch chatter usually helps me to take my mind off the rattling sound. You just have to be ready and mechanically consistent when driving on the srteet. I'm sure some clutches fare better than others, but mine is not top tier on being user friendly. Some adjustability on engagement position would be nice.

Reviving an old thread here, but I am hearing the same sounds out of the new Z06 my dad just purchased. It is basically a low frequency buzzing sort of sound that is most noticeable in 1st and 2nd but is present in all driving conditions. It is sort of a metallic rattle/buzz. Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution?
There have been some threads here regarding a rattling on the right side behind the dash. There is a TSB and a couple of guys had to have the dry sump oil can changed as the baffles inside made the sound. I have a sound that squeaks and rattles on the right intermittnely and I'm going to have to bring it in it's driving me crazy.
I had the same rattle sound at low rpms, esp when I pulled into my driveway. My local Chevy dealer service tech had a GM gear additive that addresses the problem. He said it might take a day or so for the fluid to work but the result was immediate. Noise is gone at any rpm and the clutch/shift feel is much smoother. It isn't a new product and should be available at any Chevy dealership. I have 16k on my 2006 Z06.
I checked with my local Chevy service rep and he gave me this information on the fluid. It is an updated replacement blend and is part #88862624. They did a rear end service and replaced the old fluid with this fluid. It really has have made the whole shift process quieter, smoother, and less notchy especially when backing up and shifting to 1st gear or at any shift point while moving. They are doing this service on any manual C6 that comes into the shop with this type of complaint. Hope this helps.

Yep, I have this too. From what I can find out, there was a ticket out to dealers about the transmission oil. I have had it changed and is is a little quieter.
Nothing to worry about though, the mechanic said it is the noise from the rear diff "doing its job" which I suspect is correct, as I get this mainly in low revs turns in 1st or 2nd. On track I have had it make a similar noise on hard left hand corners too.
Try taking putting it into Track Mode on the traction control. See what happens. (IN THE DRY).
