Will there be a 2010 Z06?

Will there be a 2010 Z06 and will it have the LS7?

I know it's early to be asking this, any ideas?

Re: Will there be a 2010 Z06?

This is an interesting question from this point of view. International FIA GT rules change next year to basically a 5.5 liter engine cap in GT. You can be above that but you won't be competitive. Obviously even the base Vette is 6.2 and the Aston Martins are 6.0....something will have to change. The 7.0 limit with [restricters as needed], was a big reason why the ZO6/C6R went to that displacement. I'm sure something will come from this that will effect the street car. Chevy is tired of racing themselves in ALMS which follows FIA GT rules, but they still want to be at LeMans which also follows FIA rules for the GT classes. By moving to a prototype class they could still run the LS7 and be competitive but it would take years to get at the Audi level.
Very interesting indeed. BTW the LS9 engine in the ZR1 would be available in a prototype too because it easily meets homologation numbers. To use it in GT it would have to be destroked to 5.5 liters. Can you imagine the power Katech would get from a LS9 with no restricters !!!! FIA would never let that happen.

I thought I read a comment in an interview with Tom Wallace recently that "we're working on some changes for 2010, too". Whatever that means.

Something tells me that the last days of the N.A. de-tuned 427 vettes are at hand, better jump on one while you still can.

I thought the ZR1 was going to take the place of the Z06?

Nope. The ZR1 is a limited edition. Targeting 2000 per year.
