The article has a picture of the new Vette, and if this is the real mccoy..I love it!
Another mag quote: " The Z07 will be further differentiated from the Z06 by the use of more carbon fiber body panels and a huge hood vent aimed at killing front end lift. In true Corvette style, Chevy will undercut competitors by pricing the Z07 at about $100,000."
"This Corvette has been known within GM as the Blue Devil, and also as the Sting Ray, but we think they'll go with Z07, or maybe Z06 R."
The pic shows louvered front fenders (like the C6R), and air scoops in the rear trunk lid.
I just saw that mag article 30 minutes ago. A coworker brought it to me to see. It shows a photochop of a yellow C6Z with (from that I could see) the following visible changes on the body:
1) Full spoiler across the entire width of the rear tail (not a "wing", but a similar to the existing Z06 spoiler, but extended all the way to the corners and painted yellow)
2) Rear intake vents on the rear deck to the side of the hatch glass/window
3) No plastic black gurney lip... the front fascia is molded wider
4) Front fender side vents look even bigger with more "lines" and "corners" in it. The rear fenders looked the same
5) Different wheels (look a lot like the C6R wheels)
6) Vents in the front lower bumper look different... nothing super, but not ugly.
7) hood vents like the C6R (the "fin" vents on the side and the main large "opening" vent in the top of the hood. This photo still showed the "pseudo" RAM air vent that the current C6Z has already
The doors and roof looked the same. The seats are somewhat visible in the pic and look the same as the C6Z. All these "same" components are what lead me to believe this pic in the mag is a photochop or concept.
Also, the article mentions a supercharged LS7 and everything I've heard to date mentions a supercharged 5.3L V8. Either way, 650 HP is a lot! It's estimated to give 600 RWHP.
But the 6-figure price tag I can do without. I just can't see spending that kind of money for a Corvette..even if it weighs in at 2900 lbs and has that kind of power. That price range puts smack in the middle of SO many other options to choose from.
I think the C6Z's price tag is the main thing that sets it apart from the rest.
Wow, I was really excited, untill I saw the picture. Sounds like a great car, but if they want to make it they should change the front bumper cover and do something with the quarter panels. The car is to sharply edged and flat. Looks more like an SUV style than a Corvette style.
Dealer has my deposit. However, if they only bump the HP and don't significantly lower the weight, I'll be passing on it. I want the weight of the car to be down to about 2800 for it to be worth 100k to me.

You guys are on crack, for $100k that car is worth it. I think it looks great, they couldnt have done it any better.
Lets do a round up of the cars this vette will smoke in every dept with a warranty shall we?
Murcielgo LP 640 $600k?
Ferrari Enzo $800k?
Ferrari F430 spider $230k
Ford GT $140k
Dodge Viper GTS $80 k
Saleen S7 $200k
Porsche 997 911 T, $200k?
Porsche GT2 $300k?
Mclaren SLR $300k?
Everything on the friggin road for that matter with the exception of a mclaren F1. If there isnt much of a mark-up on this this is really a bargain considering C6 Z's are going for $90k as it is.
GM quality? What more do you want? Seat massagers and scissor doors?
As for getting the weight down below 3k lbs, I dont think there is much room for reduction. I think its as light as it can possibly get.
They could save a few lbs with lighter rims and smaller brakes, maybe ditching the AC and radio but thats about it. Dont think theyre gonna build it with Lexan windows.
I have a friend that works in the Ivory Tower.
He's how I get the "hard to get ones" early and @ MSRP.
He has me down for one but I hope that is not it.
I'll see him for the Woodward Dream Cruise next month.
I'll bring the magazine and ask him if that picture is close or not.
