Z06 - 2009 - Changes

I'm just about ready to lay down the cash for a C6 Z06. I'm looking for thoughts / advice / criticism.

Has anyone heard of any changes coming for the 2009 models? I'm undecided as to buying a new '08 model of an '06/'07 with a few miles and save a few bucks. Have a new '08 on the hook for $67.5k and have been watching the auctions on ebay for weeks where nothing is hitting reserve. I also have a friend that goes to the local car auction and has been seeing used ones go for $52 - $58 depending upon miles.

Would appreciate any info from the rumor mill.
Thanks

WAG

Since the car has not been introduced yet, my guesses are as follows: I do not think you will see many technical/engineering changes. Those small improvements were made to the 2008 model year.

You will see cosmetic changes, however, like several new paint options and several new interior package choices. Look at the "427" special edition and those wheels might replace what we have seen for 3 model years on the ZO6. Then, again, they might be an option....................guess we all need to wait for the bash in April to get the proper news releases.

Could someone put together a simple list of the changes made to the '08's over the '06/'07 models?
Thanks

Re: Z06 - 2009 - Changes

I read in one of the car mags that the new dry sump system in the ZR1 will be given to the Z06. It has a separate reservoir to ensure oil even on long high G corners. It will also probably increase oil capacity some more. This is just car mag rumor, but sounded pretty certain.

BOSCH. I don't know if I have the correct spelling. No longer DELPHI.

Re: Z06 - 2009 - Changes

I thought I had heard that the rear-end of the '08 had been changed to improve the oversteer characteristics of the '06-'07s and lessen the occurence of wheel hop.

Re: Z06 - 2009 - Changes

by rear end, I think you mean the new shocks. I'm pretty sure that's the only change. Not sure on specifics.

Also, 08s get dimming mirrors with compass and ipod jack standard, and the key fob is new I think but I don't know how.

Actually, I'm trying to figure out the standard C6 (Z06) alarm, I can't find it anywhere on the internet...I mean does it have a door alarm if you open the door, what about break the window only? I know about the immobilizer only...I understand if these "secrets" are guarded...I can wait til I get my owner's manual

Yes, I think it is just the shocks.

By iPod jack are you talking about the "Audio Jack" listed in the radio features section on the window sticker? For the like of me I cannot find anywhere that discusses or points out this jack. It is not mentioned anywhere in owners manual. Also, I hear the iPod connectivity won't happen until May. Anybody know about the audio jack?

Re: Z06 - 2009 - Changes

I'm in the same boat. Here are the UNCONFIRMED but seemingly reliable things I have found:

New dry sump reservoir, shared with the ZR-1, higher capacity.

New wheels, same pattern as the recent 427 Special Edition. It's not clear whether these will be optional or standard.

New all-black 3LZ leather package.

3LZ will include Bluetooth, with steering wheel controls.

Aux jack on Nav radios.

Color changes: Atomic Orange and Machine Silver dropped, Cyber Gray and Blade Silver added.

Official announcement will be on April 26. For myself, I'll probably wait. Given the current economy, there will still be plenty of '08s, and the '06/07 prices will have been driven further down. I'll decide after the announcement.

Re: Z06 - 2009 - Changes

Gannet,
Great information. Several of those items are exactly what I was hopeing would come along. I was going to forego the Nav because it didn't come with Bluetooth and go aftermarket.

I was constantly debating going with black because I really wanted a grey color, but machine silver was the only thing available.

3LZ in all black might be an option, but it never was for me with all the light colored panels.

I really appreciate all the response and it is likely that I will also wait until the announcement that you mention on April 26th. Could I also ask where that information will be given to the public?, or is that something that only a dealer would know?

I agree with the comments on the economy as well and you see nothing meeting reserve on ebay at this time, and wholesale prices are substantially less than last year. Doubtful that anything in our economy or especially in our political process will endorse buying performance vehicles.

Thanks again
