Z06 as a daily driver

Need some input please. I'm thinking about a new Z06 or regular C6 but I will be using either one as a daily driver, so , anyone out there using their C6Z06 as a a daily and if so any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine is a daily driver. Some worry about the miles, not me, I own it to enjoy.

It's my relaxation toy after a hard day.

I commute about 16 miles each way or about 15 minutes.

Did it with mine for 6 mo!
I'm an electrician and carried my tools in the trunk!!
I got a lot of crap from guys and I would only work on jobs with paved parking lots!
It had mild mods and it behaved like a refined lady in bumper to bumper traffic even at 100+ temps!!
The car is a great daily!
A modded one works just as well, it just turns more heads!!

Mine isn't a daily driver, but honestly, if I were going to drive a Corvette daily, I'd get a regular C6 with the paddle shift automatic instead of a manual trans. That's just my opinion, though.

I have mine, and I don't use it as a daily driver, I wouldn't have a problem. She drives great, and you could easily use her as one.

If I lived in the south or in cali, I'd drive it year round. Too bad we get snow here.

I think it matters on where you live, what kind of roads you'd be driving it on, and how many miles. Out here in the SF Bay Area where the roadways are absolute SH-T, I don't dare drive my Z every day. I've already picked up two screws, a ton of little rock chips on the front fascia and hood, and a broken air splitter from a chunk of tire retread that another car flipped into my lane.

I've had the Z since December 1st and I've only got a little over 4300 miles on it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy driving it, but on days where I have to do long hauls or run a ton of errands or go to downtown SF, I take my Durango or my wife's Tahoe.

Yes!

Yes, the Z06 is a GREAT daily driver. (Note bjaber's correct comment that it depends on where you live.)
But the 6-speed is easy. I have a bad left knee, but the clutch is light, and is never a problem. Using this car every day makes it more fun to go to work, as well as more fun going home.
I use it for most any errands that don't require a pickup or multiple passengers. My taxidermist laughs when she sees me bringing in a deer head in the back of a Corvette.

This car can easily be used as a dd. It is so comfortable and civil around town, yet, it is a beast and will smoke almost anything in its path when you open it up..

I've been driving my '02 C5Z daily for 1.5 years & I agree with previous statements. My break down:
- Great gas mileage (relative to its class of automobile)
- Lots of leg room
- Comfy seats
- Lots of visibility (both for you and others to see you!)
- A/C works great (close the passenger vents to focus cooling if you've no passenger)
- Plenty of trunk space for just about anything (including deer heads (humor))

I recommend a C5Z as a daily driver. However, a C6 with paddle shift does one-up on the Z in ease of use in bumper2bumper traffic. If you go w/the C6 be sure to get the Z51 package to get close to the Z in handling. NOTE: The C6 is not as "visceral" (a term often used to describe the difference between the C5Z and the standard C6). If you've not done so already, test drive both.

48 K on the Odometer...

Worlds best daily driver and a simply awesome cross-country road car. Just ask anyone who goes to the Z06Fest!
