Z06 as a Daily Driver ?

time to trade in my SUV I was thinking of maybe a VW Touareg V10 Diesel but do I really need an SUV ? I can only think of a few times I really needed all that hauling room & most of the time although I like my 04 Navigator it sits around getting 12 mpg

So I was thinking maybe a Maserati Quattroprte, or a 996 Turbo, but what I REALLY want is a C6 Z06 but I need it to be a daily driver for a few months, after that I'll go off the deep end modding it & tracking it

So how good is a Z06 as a DD ?

Thanks

Re: Z06 as a Daily Driver ?

Lots of people drive their Z daily...I do (the C6Z is supposedly a smoother ride than my C5Z). I don't know your particular needs, but I think this thread will answer most of your questions...Z06 as daily driver?

Lots of guys drive it daily - go for it.

If you decide you want an SUV, take a look at the Audi Q7. A neighbor has it. Very nice.

That's a sweet ride - I say go for it.

It has 1000 Nm of torque, which translates to about 750 ft/lbs of torque. V-12, can't be that!

Dont buy Audi, POS cars!

As long as you can get in and out of the vette ok, its definitely a daily driver.

Re: Z06 as a Daily Driver ?

AUDI (and VW for that matter) used to be total POS.

Around 2004 they got their act together so I dont think the "Avoid them" attitude is warranted.

I understand where you're coming from, I've seen some seriously stupid yet expensive problems (mostly electrical) in the ~2000 models. My buddy has had a 2005 for 2 years now and its a great car.

I couldn't believe he pays $100 for a stinkin oil change! People dont believe me when I tell them how simple it is. Damn dealer-sticklers. They deserve to be ripped off !

You may be right there, I was severely bitten by buying a new 2001 Audi. I will not buy another one for a long time. I couldnt beleive how bad that luxury well built German steel was. If it was possible to break on the car, it broke. I find it difficult to believe they are not still riddled with problems. They would have had to fire every engineer and get some who knew what the hell they were doing. I'm really turned off Audi after having owned one. I just dont get the Germans... They make great cars, but totally miss the mark is some ways. I had a similar experience with VW. Although our BMW runs ok, there have also been nagging problems.
