Z06 on the way, dealer says minimum milage of new car is 5 miles?!?!?!

So my AO Z06 is on the way, and I told the dealership that I don't want anymore than a mile on my car and to have no one drive it anywhere. He tells me that they have to do their inspection that the car will have no more than 5 miles on the car.

Is this true or is this guy yanking my chain?

What should I do?

That's about normal, the car is driven off the assembly line and on a shake down before being loaded onto a transporter. Then off the transporter at the dealer. Prep at the dealer and filling the gas tank will add a couple miles depending how far a gas station is from the dealer. Mine had 3 miles on the dealer floor, and was delivered with 5 miles. I wouldn't worry about it. I have a buddy at another Chevy dealer, he's done preps on all cars, it averages a couple miles.

They can't hurt it too bad in 5 miles. It should be fine. Some cars get quality tested at the factory and have 20 miles or so.

I'll bet it's steep, but it will be worth it! Enjoy it!

Let's see...5 miles on the odometer...figure they could get 20 good quarter mile runs before handing the keys over.

Congrats!

Mine had 3 miles on it. But of course I had to head to a gas station quick as it was flashing low fuel.

Re: Z06 on the way, dealer says minimum milage of new car is 5 miles?!?!?!

Congrats on the new car! As the others have mentioned, there will be a few miles on the odo when you pick it up. If you ever get a chance to tour the Bowling Green assembly plant, (I highly recommend) you will see that each car is tested before shipment, and no, the minimal mileage is not put on by a high school part timer at the plant but a professional member of the team building the car. They want that car to ship as perfect as you want to receive it at the dealer.

Mine arrived with 3 miles on the odometer. It has a few more now.

Have fun and enjoy it while you can. I know all too well what Nebraska winters are all about.

Re: Z06 on the way, dealer says minimum milage of new car is 5 miles?!?!?!

after the water leak test they take the car out for a shakedown run on the backlot of the assy. plant.. every 40 or 50 or so. they put 100 miles or less.. but there is a certificate that explains.. they don't hot rod them.. they could give a crap.. they drive them every day..LOL

enjoy it.

Mine had 7 on the clock and the dealer didn't put any on it as I prepped the car myself. Still haven't figured out why there were 7 on it.

Re: Z06 on the way, dealer says minimum milage of new car is 5 miles?!?!?!

I told my dealer I wanted it the way it came off the truck, except for what they must do before delivery. I got it with the white shipping plastic still on it and the dust and water spots it came with off the transporter. That way all the scratches on the black paint are mine. Still had 5 miles on it.
