The ZO6 is NOT worth the $25k+ premium over the coupe
Sorry Guys,
the C6 ZO6 was not worth a $25k premium for me over my 07 C6 coupe.
Now,
at a premium of almost $29k over what I paid,
WITHOUT DEALER MARK UP.......
GM can KISS MY ASS !!!!
As far as I am concerned,
the Z51 C6 is the successor to the C5 ZO6.
Similar price point and performance.
I know how the C6 ZO6 provides supercar performance.
I know the competition has significantly higher MSRP than the C6 ZO6.
With that being said,
I'll take the $30k I saved and either invest or modify.
All this while having the option,
OF A REMOVABLE TOP !!!!!
The ZO6 should never had been priced more than $10k over the coupe.
We didn't NEED carbon fiber, magnesium, aluminum, etc.
The weight savings was NOT significant.
But, the PRICE TAG was.
The ZO6 brakes have not proven to be "optimal".
Yes,
the LS7 is AWESOME.
Yes,
I would have paid an extra $10k TOTAL for the extra power, braking, and looks.
Bear in mind,
GM charges you TWICE for the parts in the Z.
It's not like you are paying the DIFFERENCE of the LS2 and LS7.
It's like you are buying BOTH engines.
If GM charged $10k over the MSRP of a coupe,
with a removable roof OPTION,
then yes,
I would have bought an 06Z.
But at almost $29k over,
WITHOUT DEALER MARK UP,
GM can keep their Z.
I guess I'll be looking for the best price on 4:10 gears, headers, CAI, installation, and tuning when race season is over and tuner business slows down.
I'm thinking around January.
Yes the Z will outperform me,
but the mods I'll do and the $25k in my pocket will comfort me.
Can't wait for the Blue Devil/SS and it's MSRP to be released.
GM could have kept the ZO6 for the working class horsepower junkie;
AND saved the Blue Devil/SS for the elite who will pay anything for the "privledge" of a halo car.
The SS will probably push me to add a twin turbo to my coupe to equal or beat it's performance.
Sorry GM,
I think you are pricing yourself out of the market.
To all those that disagree with me.
I admit I could be wrong.
But, hold your conclusions for late 06/early 07 when the moneybags, must haves, and early adopters have all paid through the nose for 06/07 ZO6.
I believe the MSRP, not to mention the DEALER MARK UPS, cannot last after these guys are out of the market.
ESPECIALLY, after the Blue Devil/SS enters the equation.

Interesting especially since GM says IF they produce the Blue Devil they are targeting $100,000 as the base price. So, I would imagine you will say that is too much for what you're getting. Depends upon what you want??
As far me, I wanted a stock car that would or at least could beat about anything on the market for the price without modifications.
Just for something interesting here is Forbes latest list of the top 10 cars and their MSRP prices:
ForbesAutos Top 10 Lists

FEAR THE MIATA
12k - widebody & CF I didn't want to pay for this crap.
I can run the same tires on my coupe.
The weight saved is NOT worth the PRICE TAG.
How many people would have deleted these features if it would have dropped the MSRP $10,000 ????
10k - motor, clutch... I agree I'd pay a 10k premium for the 06 Z's drivetrain.....
AT THE MOST
3k - wheels/tires No, it is NOT worth an EXTRA 3k for the wheels+tires. For that 3k, I'll buy an EXTRA set of 06 Z sized wheels and tires.
Even if I pay a LITTLE more than $3k,
I'll be getting an ADDITIONAL set of wheels and tires.
2k - brakes No. IT's NOT worth an EXTRA 2k for the brakes.
How many ZO6 owners are yanking off the BRAND NEW brakes for other alternatives? (stoptech)
Considering you get all that and a warranty for 20k more then an equally optioned out C6 coupe, Id say its a pretty good deal to me... I got my NEW 07 coupe for $25k+ LESS than the 06 Z06.
That's ALMOST $30k LESS than an 2007.
Forget it.. Don't answer.. I don't really care.. If you didn't want a response,
then you shouldn't have asked.
Look.
If you got more money than you know what to do with
-or-
you require your car to be 100% stock,
I agree that the ZO6 is an AWESOME car.
However,
if the 2 statement above do NOT apply to you....
THERE IS NO WAY THE 06 Z IS WORTH $30k+ MORE THAN THE Z51 COUPE.
