I referenced Road & Track August 2011 issue page 126, which states that a Z06 Carbon weight was 3305 lbs as tested on 1/2011 (latest and greatest Z06 Year 2011 option available at that time).
In contrast R&T March 2010 issue page 100, states that a Z06 weight was 3190 lbs as tested on 5/2008 (Year 2008 Z06). I attribute the delta in greater magazine weight over my auto registration scale weight of 3118 lbs was due to the fact that my 2008 is only a 2LZ model versus the 3LZ model tested in the magazine which has all of the extra added weight of the thicker leather panels plus other luxury aspects.
I was referencing Car and Driver March 2010 "GM says the Carbon’s lighter-but-more-robust equipment, such as the larger brakes and rolling stock, means the Z06’s curb weight stays the same at a still-feathery 3150 pounds, or about 200 fewer than the ZR1’s." when I stated the 3150. Who knows the actual weight...
Maybe the 3150 is empty and weight as tested included fuel, etc.

Agreed on the fuel and in the past they included test equipment weight (5th wheel). However, they do not use the 5th wheel anymore with GPS and accelerometers. Hopefully, the magazines do not fill the tank to the top before doing performance runs, as this would vary results considerably. Also, technically test weight would include the driver, but it would be very misleading to include driver weight. I guess the only way to know for sure is to put the car on the scales.
My 2008 owners manual and DVD specifically states that the Z06 does NOT have the autoclose hatch feature in order to save weight, and requires a firm close. My passenger seat also is not power versus ZR1 power operation, I guess this is why my 2008 registration weight is a low 3118 lbs, while the Z06 weight has crept up over 3200lbs after 2008 with larger dry sump tank, etc(much higher for Z07 Carbon versions with heavier hardware).
Somehow you have a different 2008 owners manual, mine says absolutely nothing about anything except the Auto close for the rear hatch.
Always good to close the hatch with one of your windows open or with the door open so that all that air inside has somewhere to go. I know it is a hassle but you can just drop the lid from 1-2 inches and it will close versus slamming it or having to push it closed with your hand.
That does work, I cant beleive how easy it closes with a door or window open!

Ditto - closes easily if you leave a door or window open a little - not good to force it.
There was at least one instance, on this forum, where pressing on the lid, cracked the hatch skin just forward of the rear lip. The skin is only supported at the rear lip, edge; therefore, caution should be taken pressing the hatch closed. I pressed it this way, until reading about a forum member having the skin crack develop. I went back to either a window open, or door ajar to close the hatch. JFWIW ’08 Z06
