Does anyone know if 18" will fit on the rear of the 06Z. There are still limited tires available for the Z. I wanted slicks for dragstrip and D/R for road racing. Hoosier has the R6 for track in 19". Comments/ suggestions please! Also need rims. Not looking for show as much as GOOOO!! and weight.
Jack, Ranger has 18" CCW Corsairs and BFG drag radials. Works for him. He doesn't come over here much anymore, so you may have to go over to the "other" forum to contact him.
Ranger has the 18x12" Corsairs w/ 345/30-18 BFG drag radials. Last I saw he was still fighting w/ the TM system but cutting 1.60s. Jack, something to think about with drags is that the C6 axles are a little weaker and caused a few people to retrofit C5's in there because of breakage.
BTW, that black Z06 from Dallas, same dude from HPE, runs a 355/25-19 Pirelli out back. Its an all around street tire w/ reportadly better grip than both the OE EMT's and Michelin PS1's. Negatives being that its shorter than the OE, and apparently tread life isnt horrible, but its great either

Do you think he had to do anything special to run the 18's Mike? I guess I am thinking about clearance on the rotors. I wonder why he doesn't run slicks? I am slipping and sliding half way down the track. Best time is 11.2 at 136, but my 60' is a terrible 2.25. I Should be able to get deep into the 10's with tires.

I hope I have the problem with the half shaft taken care of. I was thinking about Hoosiers in 19 for track and 18's at strip if they will clear the rotors. Can you get the Hoosiers? Let me know!!

Jack
Knowing Ranger, he didn't.
As for slicks,
I don't know that they make a slick in an 18".
Also, Ranger is a purist and won't tune out the TM. Therefore, the car wants to cut out on hard launches which is required to spin the slicks.
Furthermore, the clutch just won't hold. It glazes with drag radials. Truly, this car was not set up for the drag strip and as it evolves more over time we will see a further departure and it will be more difficult to drag race it.
Mike will fill you in on anything I missed.
BTW your mph is good for very low 10's. Keep us posted.

Yep, I can verify the clutch glazing. It is in the shop right now getting replaced. Mike has already given me some info on how to get with Ranger. Your times in your sig are great. I hope I can have a 60 like yours with practice. Thanks for the info.
Most 18" wheels for the C5Z will fit the rear of the C6Z. I've been running 18x12 C5Z repro wheels at the road tracks for a long time. It's the fronts that are tricky to fit . . .

Do you know where he bought those tires? and how did he fit a 355 back there?? I can't find a tire that will work on the back other than the EMT's from goodyear without have to change the wheels out.
