07 just died

Hi everyone
I was driving my Z last night and while I was cruising at about 45 mph, the car just shut off.

I was not driving it hard at all.
So after the car came to complete stop....I tried to restart the car but it would not start.

The battery has enough juice to turn the starter but the engine never starts.

I put a battery box to try to give it more juice with no luck.

So I am completely lost on what my issue can be.

My car has 47K miles on it.
Could it possibly be a fuel pump??

Anyone have any advice?

DO NOT attempt to start it again! I would have a mechanic look at it first.

I don't want to jump to conclusions or freak you out ... but I have heard stories that sound very similar to this where a valve spring broke. Hopefully not, but just in case, you don't want to do more damage to the engine.

Keep us updated and good luck. Hopefully it's just something simple and cheap.

I agree w/ vant. The early 07's (first 6 months) had the most issues w/ the rocker arms too. I too have read a number of posts w/ just driving down the road and it let go w/ the ls7. Valve guide wear and the exhaust valve breaking off. Again there are alot of guys out there w/ over 100,000 miles on the LS7 then there are alot of 30-50k horror stories w/ this valve issue blowing an engine. Hope your OK but I would bring it to a dealer. Keep us updated! Jim

So dealer said battery is draining a little fast, NO need to replace now, but it will need to be replaced soon.

It took them 3 days to Trouble shoot my issue to a Bad Fuel Pump!

At 47K miles my fuel pump went out. Even the tech was surprised about that. He asked if I had upgraded the fuel pump, I said NO! The car is completely stock!
He just couldnt believe it was already bad. I live in Southern MD...and there are not that many Z06's down here...so maybe its a lack of seeing these cars??? But I would think tha a fuel pump is intended to last a little bit longer!
Any ways its covered under GM warranty!

My car should be ready in a couple of days!! GOD I MISS THE CRAP OUT OF MY BABY!!!!

BTW, when my car was being towed on a flat bed.....I watched (after talking with the tow guy and trying every other way),............ but the Z sits so low that I had to watch my front end shift about 3.5" up as car was pulled onto the tow truck!!!

So now I have to call my Insurance company to see about replacing my from spoiler and possibly the front bumper!!!!!! :(

The front end sits pretty low on these cars. I'm already on my third splitter in as many years. What are you gonna do though?

One of the first things I put on my C5Z06 was some roller wheels for my skid bars that raise the front end in many circumstances before the body panel scrapes. The oem skid bars are a compromise in how far they project down . I did some quick research and roller bars are avaialble for the C6 generation.

I just ordered a removable tow hook that can be installed w/o removing the bumper for this very reason. Something as simple as needing to be flat bedded or pulled out of the grass can cause more damage than the problem!

Please what is maker of the removable tow hook you installed? I just know the fixed ones for the C6Z06...I want a removable one!!
