ANNOYING C6 Z06 low rpm clutch rattle

Does everybody else with a C6 Z06 have the ANNOYING low rpm rattle that sounds like a coffee can full of loose marbles from (I think) the front engine when you first engage your clutch at low rpm? If so, what the heck is it AND is this normal?

My local Chevy dealer says this is "normal" but I'm skeptical, even though my friends at an aftermarket performance parts manufacturer who dyno'd both my Z06 and another one said they BOTH made this same noise and mine wasn't as bad. Somewhat reassuring but REAL disappointing for a $70k car...

Get used to it... that's the good ol' Tremec/BorgWarner T56 doing it's stuff. That's perfectly normal. I converted my 96 Impala SS to a T56 6-speed and complained about it for a while as well. If you think it's bad in the new Z, you should have heard the rattle in my Impala.... short-throw billet aluminum B&M Ripper shifter

and no sound deadening material or other insulation other than the center console. It rattled like a pissed-off Arizona Diamondback. Drove me nuts under 2000 rpms, but totally quiet past 2000 rpm.

Sold the car 8 months ago and the new owner had the tranny rebuilt to fix a reverse gear issue, but the rattle was still there (because it was normal).

All F-body's have it too (same tranny).

Good ol' T56. Trustworthy and they can take a lot of power.

The C5Z06's had this also. When at a stop (and I know that is hard to do ), if you push in the clutch, does the sound go away?

yo

It's the rear mounted trans axle grown. It's normal all the C5 and C6s do it. My 03 cobra has a factory T-56 and it doesn't make the noise. It's the combination of the rear mounted setup.

Actually, the only time I get the "rattle" is when I let out the clutch at low rpm, usually when leaving from a dead stop and until it gets to 3+ mph. I can also hear it when I let out shift at low rpm into higher gears... Like when I do one of the fuel saving 1st to 4th shifts.

It was very prodominant in my 05 coupe but I don't hear it much in my 06z. Nothing to worry about.

The cure - - - (ta ta) - - MORE GAS (a few more revs at take off and the noise goes away or is much less noticable.

You know the solution for that, don't let the clutch out at low RPM

My 02 Z06 had it.
My 06 Z06 has it.
It's normal, just mash the throttle and that noise will be gone, replaced by the gorgeous singing of the mighty LS7!

this is a very normal sound, its was there in the c5 too and they even mentioned it in the video that comes with the car.
david hill talked about it for the z06 and he said that they tried hard to come up with a solution but the solution required that the performance would probably be lessened, so they decided to keep the noise.
