Another Z06 Dyno Sheet

Picked up at the dealer, driven 525 miles, cool down 45 min, and on the dyno. Wideband blew out of the exhaust.

Thanks for your results great numbers very strong. I agree in what you did: Dyno after the initial 500 mile brake in period not before. Greg

Another verification that horsepower rating is conservative! Thanks for the post!

Are you able to find out exactly what that translates to be at the crank? Great #'s!

Tom,
With your dyno results could you please give a estimate what that HP translates to flywheel HP. What i'm getting at: Do you feel the 505 GM HP rating is under rated and by approx how much in your opinion. Greg

You got to love GM for giving under stated HP ratings compared to Fords over rated HP ratings.

The C6 Z06 is of course rated at 505 BHP.

Take your pick:

515 RWHP with 13% drivetrain loss = 592 BHP

515 RWHP with 7% drivetrain loss = 554 BHP

515 RWHP with 3% drivetrain loss = 531 BHP

515 RWHP with 1% drivetrain loss = 521 BHP

21st Century Muscle Cars claims a 17% or more drivetrain loss for the C5/Z06 with M12 transmission. If that is true for the C6/Z06 as well it would put the C6 Z06 at 621 BHP and we know that is not true. Either the C5/Z06 drivetrain with its M12 transmission is vastly less efficient than the C6 Z06 drivetrain, also with a manual transmission, or 21st Century Muscle Cars is wrong.

Here is what they said:

"We have compared claimed Brake Horsepower #s from car manufacturers against the rear wheel #s on our dyno and almost always have found the quoted horsepower # vs. rear wheel Horsepower # to be between 14-22% depending on the transmission and the final drive gears."

Lingenfelter uses 15% for C5 manuals and 17% for C4 manuals

Disregard what I posted above. For some reason the forum is not letting me edit my posts. I must be dyslexic this AM because it's 455 RWHP, NOT 515!

Yes, they claim 14-22% per above.

A cup of coffee later

455 RWHP with a 17% drivetrain loss = 549 BHP

455 RWHP with a 15% drivetrain loss = 536 BHP

455 RWHP with a 14% drivetrain loss = 530 BHP

Much better.

(Now I look like a complete idiot)

No Doubt, you're just excited. There's nothing wrong with that, normal. You just went forward on the numbers.
