Anyone having a clutch problem?

I think my clutch is starting to exhibit some problems. I had no issues until the last 2 days when the engage point has come up several inches. I've got 4500 miles on the car, 2500 put on in the last 30 days on the Hot Rod Power Tour.

If you were racing, it might need upgraded. I've had no issues, and I have over 4k with some track time.

No Track Time but certainly some spirited driving, which is why I bought the car.

There was a clutch recall out, not sure of the VINs affected. May want to look into that.

THIS RECALL IS IN EFFECT UNTIL March 31, 2007

Certain 2006 Chevrolet Corvette model vehicles equipped with 6.0L V8 (RPO LS2 - VIN U) or 7.0L V8 (RPO LS7 – VIN E) engine and manual transmission may have a condition in which the flywheel may have been incorrectly machined, resulting in insufficient clearance for clutch cover self adjustment, reducing clutch life.
This program will expire on March 31, 2007.
Dealers are to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine flywheel.
Refer to Customer Satisfaction Program #06523 for further information
EFFECTIVE DATE:
Initial owner mailing is scheduled to begin: 4-3-06

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Parts required to complete this program are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.
Part Number Description Quantity/Vehicle
12571611 Flywheel, Eng 1

IMPORTANT: Due to the small number of vehicles involved and due to limited initial parts availability, Dealers are encouraged not to order program parts for use as shelf stock. Parts should only be ordered when inspection determines that it is necessary to replace the flywheel.

2006 Chevrolet Corvette

VIN 65115878 through 65121354

I have the recall notice with detailed instructions in a pdf file but don't know how to attach it and your e-mail is blocked.

I got real interested in this as a new Z I was looking at was part of this recall. I opted not to buy it. Searching your threads looks like you purchased yours early March 2006...which may put you in the lot of vin's.
Part of the instructions (if you have a defective flywheel):
Install a new clutch kit, P/N 24233084 (LS2) P/N 24236500 (LS7) and assemble vehicle
components. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement procedure for the 6.0L (LS2) engine or
7.0L (LS7) engine in SI.

Thanks for the info, I got my car last fall (October 2005) but hardly drove it until spring. Only had 1500 miles on it May 1.
My VIN is outside of the recall range. I spoke with the service manager at the local dealer yesterday and am going to take it in for him to have a look see tomorrow.
My e-mail is gsullivan@sullivandata.com

Do you still have a PDF of the recall? I have an LS7 crate engine and it came with the clutch assy.

Thanks,

Builder,
I have the PDF file of the TSB that has ---relatively ---detailed pictures of what to look for. But I need your e-mail address to send because I do not know how to attach file to this post. Send me an e-mail to the below address and I will return the pdf

I too have experienced a soft, flat feeling clutch. I also drain and replenish the clutch fluid every 500 miles, a simple solution. This has elimanated the problem. I have driven another 10,000 miles with no problems. We all know when it happens, just thinking about it tells the tale.

I have a 06 Z06. I have had some problems with the car. After speaking with an employee at the BG assembly plant, I took the car to the dealer with information he forwarded me from this web site and found out that there was a bulletin on my car for the 1/2 shaft and a new rear end fluid and additive. While doing the repairs the mechanic checked the flywheel and said that I had the updated version. Apparently this was something that they changed mid production. Now that these repairs were performed the car is driving better that ever. That is until I put it on the track this past Sunday. During the second pass on the 1/8 mile track, the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. When I went to shift from 1st to 2nd I had no pedal! I let off and let it coast a few feet in neutral and it popped back out. Has anyone had this problem or did I commit a driving error. This is my fifth vette. My second Z06 (2003) and they have all been manuals and I've never experienced anything like it. I did run pretty good,(for a girl) Best time was 8.25 in the 1/8 and I never hit over 6,000 rpms. Awesome car inspite of its problems!

Make sure for those of you racing/using your car the way it was intended to change your clutch fluid often. It should not be black. The C6Z uses a dot4 already. This will help in the peddle sticking area. If you get a chance read Ranger's post on this subject over on CF.
