Ash tray door

Boy do I feel stupid asking this question in this part of the forum. This is my 13th Vette and I cannot fix this annoyance.
The ash tray door will not remain closed. The slightest bump causes it to open. I may start smoking simply to leave it open.

Any experience on anyone's part with this?

Can I just have the dealer "pop in" another ash tray with the door?

Thanks,

ZZERO6

pretty bad for $73,000 !! i hate when things like that happen it makes you think why they didnt look at this before leaving the plant?

Ash tray door

Once again...this ash tray issue is very interesting. I got so fed up that I called a local dealer and spoke with the service manager. He has 'never heard about this problem' prior to my call. I then called another dealer to order the parts needed to fix the problem (thanks to our forum). That dealer has never heard of this problem either. I then called GM (Chevrolet) and believe it or not(?!) the girl in Argentina (out-sourcing by GM) knew nothing about the ash tray issues either. Perhaps we are simply making this up??!!
I have an appointment for the ash tray next week at my local dealer for them to replace the door and dampener ($30 warranty items).
As a side note: The roof panel recall parts are back ordered and they have no idea when they will be available. In the meantime I was told not to drive the car in the heat at higher speeds.

Have a great weekend.

I used to live and work in Leesburg at the Air Traffic Control Center. Have not been back for a while. How is everything in Leesburg?
By the way, I plug my Valentine into the cigar lighter, hense, no problem with the door as it is always open. :=)

Ron,
All is well in Leesburg. I live not far from the ATC Center. I do not know how long it has been since you lived here so I will not bore you with all of the changes. This area is "out of control" when it pertains to development and building. Did you live in Leesburg?

Yes, I lived there for a couple of years and then I moved to Harpers Ferry. I worked at the Center for 17 years.
