The brand spanking new General Motors Performance Build Center will tackle its first project by next summer—the hand-built LS7 V8 for the next-generation Corvette Z06. The center in Wixom, Michigan, can produce up to 15,000 engines per year. Other good news on the Z06 front? If you like the C6, know that even though chief engineer Dave Hill won’t commit to working on the seventh-generation car, he has his hands all over development of the C6-based Z06. He promises a more extreme performance difference over the base car than was the case with the C5.
Well I sure HOPE that is not how many cars will be produced in the model year!
I think you can read that to mean the C6 Z production will be limited to no more than 15,000 cars the first year. Which, if you do the match, I believe is still more than the current Z production numbers. Also keep in mind the C6 Z will have it's production cut to ~15% of the overall corvette production #. Now I think it's at about 20%.

How many ZO6s did they make in 2004 compared to the C5 #s?
Zlicious: No way way will they be making that many a year(15,000) with a sticker price of 70K!. I am thinking no more than 7000/yr. We will see soon.
I agree with your assessment but the article was referring to plant capacity not Z06 production numbers. Throw in some detuned CTS-V's and STS-V's in there and we might be close.
There's a big difference between plant capacity and the numbers of a particular car that might be produced. They will be building engines for cars other than the Z06.
