I had the privilege to put the breakin miles on my friend Craig's C6 Z06. We left my house in Clearwater at 3 pm on Thurs. heading for Maxie Price outside of Atlanta in his C6 Coupe. Big rain slowed us down some, hydroplaning a couple of times.
We pick the car up Friday morning and start our drive back, rain again. Craig is driving and we stop for a soda this is when I start piloting this land rocket, with just 65 miles on the odometer. This black beauty ( good choice Norm ) is more than I expected, much more. I pulled the exhaust fuse before leaving the dealership and for us there was no sound issues.
I drove most of the way back in 4th and 5th gear from 70 to 150 mph. Most of the trip was 80 - 90 except for the couple of times we got hit with heavy rain. I was in the right lane doing 35-45 with my nose pressed against the windshield.
The clutch pedal is real easy and the shifter, short, smooth, and precise. I liked the smaller wheel and the seats didn't wear on me. A down shift into 4th at 80 mph finds you at 120 in a blink a , roll to 150 was smooth as glass. Wish I had more road.
You are not just getting hp, it's the whole package and it is all that. I can even overlook the hatchback, it's that good and I want.
This the second cherry I popped this year, FUBU's AMG and Craig's Z06, thanks guys.
Black with chrome wheel. How can you go wrong? The picture nose to nose really shows the difference in the two cars. Tom it looks like your pearl white Z may be getting a big brother to play with. Very nice.
Sounds like a really fun trip in the new 505 hp Z!
Too bad about all the rain! It was great of your friend to let you christen it!
When I picked up my new '02 RED Z06 in Jacksonville a few years back my friend (former head of new vehicle quality at the old Tarrytown NY GM assembly plant) had the car detailed to perfection while I took care of the final paperwork.
The minute we pulled out of the lot a typical Florida downpour came down for the 60 mi ride south. Offered to let him drive a couple of times buit he declined!
The car hasn't been in the rain since then!
By the way since then he has driven our 04 Z06 up to 140 mph on the Daytona track (I was following in 02 RED Z06) at the milestones event before last years Daytona 24hr race!

Thank you for the write up. I really enjoy hearing all the details of these initial encounters with the new Z. With all the postings lately with pic's of the new cars I am a bit like a kid at Christmas! Every color looks great! After looking at these pic's I am back to where I started, Black is the way to go. My 2003 Z06 was black. My allocation is next up at my dealer and I will leave my order Black. BEAUTIFUL car!! Can't wait! Thanks for the post!
