base price $75?

MT says $75 so a delivered car will probably be $80
or better ,and with bidding wars, dealers will probably
add another $10...i'll keep my Z16(since its worth only$40)
and only 3 months old...!!! you fooled me ONCE GM!!!

You will be able to buy them all day @ MSRP if the 70+ is correct.

KC, were you out driving the Z yesterday? I saw a beautiful black Z yesterday at Todd George and Langsford.

While 75K is not what I think we all wanted to hear, it really isn't a suprise given the specs of the car. The sad part is that by the time you have the additional market adjust bullshit that the dealers will no doubt tack on, it'll be pushing 90K out the door with taxes and everything. And unforutnately as well, there are enough fools out there that will pay it, such that by the time the gotta-haves get, it will realisitcally be 1-2 years before the price settles to something more in line with reason.

You can buy them all day at "MSRP" now? Several Dealers are
taking a deposit and adding you to a "pre order" list at MSRP.

I think if you look at what the car offers, 75K is still a bargain,
I hope it is much less though!

The Viper lists for 90+, Dealers quickly started selling them for
much less since sales were not brisk of the SRT/10

I would suspect that after 6 months, you will see steep discounts on the Z. If you look at the Ford GT, they are asking WAY over sticker for them, but they aren't selling quickly at that, and they are VERY limited in production. The
Z will be a volume Super Car, (probably 3,500 - 5,000 per year) In order to achieve those numbers, they will need to
discount them greatly. The top figure for the exisiting Vette
market seems to be about 65K after that, interest drops off fast from what I have seen.

I would still love to see a VERY limited production Vette that
would be a true "Halo" car for GM and Corvette, a VERY exotic
looking car with about 600 hp that would come in around 150K
and a production number of about 1,500 units per year!

The Viper Coupe is coming, it will be about 90-94K and could
have a rumored 600hp Engine! So far people have been dissapointed with the looks of it shown though. Dodge would
have a winner if they JUST made a street version of the Comp Coupe and I think GM would have a winner with a "Street Version" of the C6R too!

By the way, I am No. 5 on the waiting list of Ross Downing at
MSRP for the Z. I paid Sticker for my 01' Z and got my 04' at
12K off, so it averages out!

There is no doubt that even at 75G's the new Z06 will be big bang for the buck. I still maintain that the new Z06 even though it will be very popular it will not be high volume car as the C5 Z06 has been. I'm sure many owners paid full retail for them and then some when the 2001 or even the early 2002 Z06's came out. I'd venture to say that most of us that bought new paid less than 50G's out the door (T&T included). Folks that a long ways from 80G out the door. Viper production is less than 1500 (?) units a year. GM has always been a high volume car manufacturer. The new Z06 may go the way of the ZR1.

I agree completely. I paid $45k + change for my '04, new. I doubt I could convince myself to pay $70K+ for the new Z, even if it is worth it. There is bang for the buck & affordability to consider. At a steep price, the volume will be low, IMHO.

Please GM, how about some good news....

I'm very happy with my 04, for 45K.

We ESTIMATE $75-85.

Just came back from the library. Motor Trend is one of few auto magazines I don't read regularly, so I went to the library to see for myself what everyone's talking about concerning the new Z06.

I'll quote the article: "You won't get a crack at it either until the fourth quarter of 2005, at which point we ESTIMATE you'll have to shell out $75-85 large."

Key word here is ESTIMATE. Motor Trend did NOT say the car will be $75,000...point being, let's not jump to conclusions about an expensive C6 Z06 UNTIL GM announces the MSRP.

As Joe Friday used to say on Dragnet TV show, "Just the facts, mam."

75K + market adjustments means I'll be getting the Viper. Love my 2002 Z but not willing to pay that kind of money on a new model with potential bugs. Remember the 01 Z oil burning issues?
