Broken Seat

Noticed my seat was creaking a bit, and that as I shifted my weight the seat shifts a small amount as well. Am I too fat (6ft 4in @ 225 lbs) or is this a design weakness?

I took it to the dealer, who ordered a part that needs replacing. I didn't hear what that part was, though I'll post it when I find out.

Stewart...you definitely are not fat! Fast? Oh Heck Yeah!!
On my drivers side bolster, I'm seeing a patch where I'm rubbing the pleather away. Now that's fat! I see a trip to criswell and Ellen coming up!

My seat's loose too

I noticed the same thing - my seat shifts ever so slightly when I get in, get settled, or shift/lug it going slow. I haven't paid much attention to it until lately. Guess I will though.

Does anyone else's seat-back pop out of position?

It does this to me when I'm @ events while strapped in to the harness.

My stock seat does. Feels like the right side gear is stripped or missing some teeth. The left side of the seat seems to hold.

Solution, getting racing seats anyway

Mine is doing the same thing, drivers seat, left bolster is wearing badly, started at 2000 miles.

I did notice that other Z06s, those with the red or silver insets did not have the problem and that the insert leather on those csrs was much stiffer than the seat leather.

I do have the red bolsters. That is where it is wearing.

I'm 6'2" and weigh 195. No signs of wear.

The quality of the leather is significantly better with the C6 than with the C5, IMO.

I have thi exact problem. I'm planning on going in to complain about it, but the vette is so reliable and I do my own service, that I havent had to go to the dealer in a year or so. Let us know if you take your car in for this.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize this was a C6Z thread (I just clicked on new threads & posted).

I'm surprised the new Zs have some seat issues as well...

My stock C5 Z06 seat back pops, and if feels like it shifts slightly if I plant my foot on the dead pedal and push. To be frank, it is a POS. From what I've seen, the C6 Z06 isn't much better.

My advice, lose the stock seat and get something worthy of this fantastic car. My Sparco roadster on Hardbar seat mounts is killer. It sounds like you're only slightly bigger than me, so if you have a 34" waist or so, you should be in good shape to fit snugly in this seat. A good seat transforms the car, and puts your butt in touch with the road...also gives more room for a helmet at the track. I've had aftermarket seats in my last 3 sportscars, and they're always one of the best mods I do to the car. Keep in mind, the stock seats are designed to accomodate as many shapes and sizes as possible...they are NOT designed for the average guy's precise comfort or for performance driving. In other words, GM doesn't want to exclude 300lb+ guys from buying this car. That means you will be swimming in the stock seat like I do.
