A/C system in C6/C6Z

Is it me or is anyone else annoyed at how the A/C system keeps coming on at times when you don't want it to? I'm not using the "Auto" function and just when I toggle throughthe vent control button (i.e. head, feet, bi-level, etc), it turns on the A/C on some of them. Grrr...

Also, when turning down the temp all the way to 60, the A/C comes on.

I now they have a "No A/C" button, but I wish it was an actual switch, as there are times I just don't want the A/C to come on.

Anyone else annoyed by this, or do I just need a vacation?

C5 does the same thing:
- Turns on A/C when I don't want it on
- Annoys me when it does

I've noticed on 90 plus degree days, the air suddenly stops blowing cold air. Severalminutes later it kicks back in.

That would bother me. Especially if it stopped blowing cold air when I need it. I haven't heard of this happening. Should you take it in to have it checked?

Well, it is Zippy, and the A/C compressor is designed to shut off at WOT . . .

I can't figure the damn thing out either. Here's a good one......turn the system on, then click the defrost button, then try to get back to "normal" vent or A/C mode. I've about punched my fist through the dash before messing with that. lol

My C5s always did exactly what I set them to do. The C6's have a mind of their own. If you lower the temp to 60 the compressor comes on and I got used to that, But the 05 would come on at other times by itself. And the 06 Z compressor comes on after cold starts even when the snowflake says its off! You cannot turn it off with any of the controls; you must shut off the engine and restart it. A number of other 06 Z06 owners have experienced this intermittant condition...I miss the compressor switch.

That was actually one of the first things I noticed when I was driving my car home. Even if I push the snowflake button, it seems I'm still getting A/C. Weird.

Here's another wierd thing about the system. I garage my car and when I start it up, I usually have the climate control set to 60 with the A/C off and the fan on the lower setting. The car will start and the settings are always the same (A/C off). As I'm backing out, the "recirc" light will come on and it feels like the car is blowing A/C, although the A/C snowflake is showing as "off". It'll be 94 outside and the system is blowing A/C with the indicator off. Even if I toggle the A/C button on and off, no change. As soon as I turn the car off and then on again, now it's no longer blowing A/C.

I'm guessing GM will issue a TSB about all of this quirkiness and have the dealers reflash the PCM with the new A/C code, right?

I mean... this thing is possessed!

Yup, the car is blowing cold air regardless of what the snowflake says. Sometimes I just wait for the first traffic light, then kill the motor and start it up again so the compressor turns off.

It did it again... had to turn the car off to get the A/C to shut off after I started it again.

Clearly there's something wrong with the programming in this car's climate control system?

Does anyone know if there is a TSB on this? If there isn't, how do we get GM's attention on this? Something is definitely wrong with this climate control.

Hey guys,
Don't know the answer but I recall reading something about the the car remembering the settings prior to shutdown and re-setting back to those upon restart. Tied in somehow with the fob. Check the owners manual and see if anything there addresses your experience.

Also saw something about the car "managing" the A/C for improved fuel mileage and then horsepower when we call for it.

It's a complicated machine...and smarter than I am.

Its not related to which fob is used; I always use the same one, the other has never been used.
