The guy driving, in the article, pretty much admitted to not being able to drive the FGT at it's limits because he wasn't an experienced enough road racer. The amount of HP, it dynoed with about 50HP more then Z06, combined with no traction or stability control made it too much car for him. The FGT is not a car that pushes much at all. It has a lot of oversteer.

Something wrong with the car mentioned in the article?
Let us know if you could.

From a forum member on CF
"The GT broke an axle and a development car with 40k miles had to be used for the road course and figure eight, it also dynoed 35rwhp lower than the GT that made the acceleration passes.
These FGTs are turning out to be curious beasts, trap speeds all over the map, rwhp all over the place, parts breaking"
Zlicious, Thanks for the great post! Could you scan and post the issue for those of us who couldn't get a copy?
I'd like to see they test drive these super cars with
A. Race Car Driver (like DE Junior, Gordon, or O'Donnell)
B. A development test driver from each manufacture
C. Best amature driver in the area (someone like a Ranger on our board or a simlar guy whos is stud driver for the GT)
These GT numbers are horrible and definitely not indicative of its true capabilities.
This way it would give us a much better idea of the true ability of the car.
all of these GT #'s are entirely accurate in my opinion. the GT will never do well on a short track road course. the GT would do much better in relation to the rest of these cars on a longer road course that is at least 2 miles in length. lots of short straightaways and tight slow speed turns will favor the Z06 because it is lighter. long straights and big sweeping corners will favor the GT. as far as braking is concerned the Z06 is lighter than the GT so its a no brainer that it will have shorter stopping distances. when you buy a GT at double the price of a Z06 you are paying for better looks and more exclusivity in my opinion. i will be buying both of these cars and selling my current Z06. as far as the viper goes i have the one and only viper i want that being the real viper, the older viper with the classic design and timeless lines of styling. i am in the process of modifying my viper to smoke all of these cars. of course the ford GT can be modified too and with that said when i get my hands on a GT and mod it it will smoke my modded viper. the GT has been recorded with a 212 mph top speed bone stock with the top speed governor removed. turn up the boost and give this car a tune and you are looking at 600+ rwhp no problem. at this level you may very well hit 220+ mph.
